Grindhouse

I saw it (them). Its better than Dusk to Dawn, gorier and pithier than Kill Bill, and not as artful as Pulp Fiction. There are two slow spots but hang in there because things get rockin in short time.

If you like Tarantino's and Rodriguez's work, you'll have a good time with Grindhouse.

I wouldn't even download it.

4. It looks like both directors spent a lot of money beating themselves off
crap/no plot, machine gun leg, explosions

on top of that, Rodriguez does the same movie every time. how long before some douche with a guitar case shows up and it turns into a rocket launcher?

6. Fair enough.

It sounds like you may not have liked anything past Mariachi or Pulp Fiction (if you liked that). I can understand. There is not much of a plot in either flick.

Grindhouse does have an interesting feeling to it and this is where the artistry may be. Its set in contemporary times, but there is a retro feel to it where the directors are consciously messing with the audience and the audience are willing participants. Its not a spoof or a faithful homage.

7. I didn't get that from the preview, though
I didn't see much in the way of a retro feel or artistry, unless you count the helicopter angling down to chop up those guys on the ground with its blade as artistry.

8. I did see a different "Grindhouse" preview last night
and, I'll admit that I liked the 2nd preview a lot more. I like Rose McGowan and couldn't tell that was her in the first preview as well...

9. Unless you are a total Tarantino fanboy, avoid or wait till DVD.
IMHO Rodriguez's segment delivers, QT's is lame, incredibly slow with minimal payoff, and filled with annoying, unbelievable dialogue that goes on WAY longer than necessary and is, IMHO, not half so clever as the author thinks it is.

And I think that the diner dialogue in "Reservoir Dogs" is great. I just think that QT's fetish of everything 70s is pretty much through as something that will support a movie.
