4. I love it when Europeans say we're violent people
Last time I checked Sox and Yanks fans manage to keep the knives in their own pockets.

6. You only get beat by the police if you run on the field
and that happens where no one can see

8. I'm an AS Roma fan, heck, an all-around Azzurri fan.

But let's not confuse Ultras with real fans, just like we shouldn't confuse British hooligans with real fans.

The Ultras are a third-rate mafia, but even a third-rate mafia can be a rabid, dangerous beast. It's time for the Ultras to be given the Old Yeller treatment.

Back to the game, here's hoping AS Roma defeats Man U and Gooney, er, Rooney at Old Trafford.

9. What about the police, though?
Edited on Thu Apr-05-07 10:50 AM by ChavezSpeakstheTruth
I didn't see them beating any italians.

Yeah - I want Man U tolose every game they play always.

That being said I want Chelsea to win it all because I so much prefer English football to Italian football. I'd take Valencia or Bayern as well.

10. In all fairness, wasn't that a British clip posted here?
Let's see if anyone can find an RAI clip that shows the Italian police beating down the Ultras. With the Italian policeman firebombed earlier this year by the Ultras, you'd think the police would have motivation for cracking some Ultras' skulls.

I also don't know yet if any British hooligans incited a riot as Man U was going down to defeat; I'll have to look around.

Point being, there are dickheads on both sides, and the Ultras had the home-field advantage. It'll make it difficult for REAL AS Roma fans to visit Old Trafford on the tenth.

12. Same here.
I've done some quick searching around the Net to see if the Italian police went after Ultras. At this point, I have to say no. It looks like Man U fans exclusively took the beatdown, and many don't seem to be hooligans.

All it takes is for a few idiots to ruin things. Crap. Now the second leg of this quarterfinal becomes secondary to what goes on with the fans.

16. The Italian police were on the Man U side of the fence
so they simply went after the Man U fans.

13. It is time these people grew up
Why terraces? Greed. Make everyone buy a seat. No seat, no getting into the game. The US learned their lesson by and large by the Who concert in 1979.
