I am sooo sick of working for mentally-ill assholes.
In the past two weeks, my formerly just okay workplace has turned really, really unbearable. Two weeks ago, I was having a casual discussion with one of our inside-sales people who was talking about how drunk he gets every weekend, blah, blah, blah. I stated that I have never been drunk. What did this asshole say? "Then how do guys take advantage of you". I just let it go...there is no formal HR to complain to, and if I said anything, I would just be accused of being a humorless bitch. Said inside-sales person is brother-in-law of the owner. The last straw happened today. I was in my cubicle doing some mind-numbingly boring data entry, when I heard this crash come from the owner's office. I ran to his office thinking something horrible happened and He was throwing a little fit because he called a client and they directed him to their voicemail. I swear, plants, photos and everything were just being thrown. He destroyed his phone and I think he pretty much destroyed his computer. There are alot of signs that this gut is not well, but I can't take enough of it. I have an interview tomorrow for a job that I am way, way overqualified for, but screw it. I can't work in the nut house anymore.

to put up with that kind of crap.

Good luck with your job search, because you REALLY need to find somewhere else to work.

2. Holy hell..
I had to check your profile to see if you lived anywhere near Oregon. I used to work for a company that was run by a family that seemed to have major problems. I don't think any of the kids/cousins would've had jobs if their dad/uncle hadn't given them a shot at a career in the company he'd founded. It made for a very sucky work relationship.

Good luck with your interview. I hope you're able to move on from this nightmare soon.

5. its a new secret right-wing plan for caring for the mentally ill
They knew they could disguise them as office workers and enlist unknowing citizens as minders and no one would know the difference.

6. With due respect, you missed a golden opportunity
I envision something like this:

You: I've never been drunk.
Asshole: Then how do guys take advantage of you?
You: (meaningful pause) Is that why you get drunk every weekend?

You're in a tough spot. Without a formal HR department, your only recourse in the immediate term is to create a log of your grievances, with detailed summaries and a notation of the time and date and any witnesses. That way, when you leave the job because it's a hostile work environment, you'll have plenty of documentation to support your claim when you file for unemployment.

Failing that, best of luck in the interview! And remember--you're not interviewing for the job that'll last the rest of your life; you're interviewing for the job that you'll hold until you find something better for you.

7. I have been documenting everything....
I hope not to have to file for unemployment...I have my fingers crossed for this position, and if not that one, I have applied for several other positions elsewhere. I am all for being professional, but I can't wait to tell them to go fuck themselves.
