PENSACOLA -- Roderick Lowd, manager of the Tobacco Depot Discount Superstore, believes the giant cigarette, which sat atop his storefront, was pilfered sometime early last week.
"We noticed it missing Wednesday morning," Lowd said Monday.
Lowd believes someone used a ladder kept in the rear of the Mobile Highway store to climb onto the roof and remove the cigarette.
The cigarette, which billowed smoke from the front end, is about 2 feet in diameter, is made of sheet metal and weights about 50 pounds, he said.
"I'm thinking it was some kids on spring break playing a prank," he said.
Lowd said the cigarette is worth about $1,200. He reported it missing Thursday.
The store owner is offering a $50 reward for information leading to its recovery.
"We had a good laugh about it," he said. "I couldn't believe someone would want to steal a 10-foot cigarette. They must have been jonesin' pretty good."
