Please help! Need to find freeware...

Does anyone know where I can find freeware on the 'net that eliminates pop-up ads? I have Zone Alarm (the free version), but that doesn't seem to do anything about the problem.

3. Install the google toolbar
The google toolbar has a pop up blocker--it works well and is free.

9. I'm gonna second the Mozilla Firebird suggestion.
I have been using Mozilla Firebird for almost 6 months without a hitch and no-pop ups, tabbed browsing, and it's pretty fast too.

5. I use Panicware's free
Pop-up stopper.

http://www.panicware.com/popupstoppercompare.html

Works like a charm...although I found out that on my system I have to leave the splash page that comes up when I start up my computer on (there's a check box not to show the splash page again that I leave blank) for it to work.

12. I concur . . .
PopUp Stopper works great . . . you sometimes have to turn it off to view Java popups, but it's just a matter of clicking an icon in your tray . . . but it stops virtually all popup ads . . .

Available Free in the EZArmor package : http://www.my-etrust.com/microsoft/

Google Toolbar and Mozilla are very good programs - consider them as well.

8. Yup, google toolbar is good choice.
Or Avant Browser (basically a new shell for IE with built in pop-up blocker www.avantbrowser.com)

Or Mozilla (I personally like Avant better).

10. Avant Browser
Edited on Mon Jan-12-04 03:50 PM by RatTerrier
It's like IE with functionality and no pop-ups.

Updated several times per month.

Almost as secure as Mozilla, but with better Java functionality.

Check it out:

http://www.avantbrowser.com

And stop using IE. That's part of the problem.

11. Any suggestions for a Mac freeware pop-up stopper?
I looked at google toolbar, but I think it is for MS Windows only.
