9. Very nice
I'm trying some new stuff, H2O. I usually go with Clinique, Lancome and Chanel, but I found this at Winners (Canadian TJ Max) on sale, and so far it's been really good. The eyeshadows are quite nice.
https://www.h2oplus.com/retail2002/category.aspx?category=make-up

It's on clearance at Winners right now, actually. My eyeshadow was $5 instead of $15, and everything else was about the same discounted rate. :D

Expensive, but fun hobby.

when you state things like that, it sounds judgmental and self righteous. And being judgmental and self righteous in this kind of situation is pretty ridiculous. Something about the phrasing, I suppose. Just, you know, fyi.

32. ZOMBIES
any movie where the dead get up and start chasing and eating the living! There's something about it.. ooo I get so happy just talking about it :loveya: Dawn of the Dead 2004 is my favorite zombie film but a few more are close and there's some I haven't even seen.
I'm finally gonna be in a zombie march later this month! I'll be the Gardener Zombie, a lady who got bit while she was decked out in tools and workclothes. And my husband's gonna be Construction Worker Zombie. We'll have grey makeup and fake blood all over us. I'll have pictures from the march to post here I hope. I have to start learning the moves in case anyone brings a boombox and plays Thriller :D

ALL horror movies are great to watch though, even if they're cheap and totally not scary, then they switch to being funny!

40. omg, rock on!
:headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

I hope the makeup's as easy as it looks. I think I'll make my own blood so I won't have to worry about my skin or eyes.
And I guess I'm ready to stagger and drag my toes but I'm still going to practice. And I hope I can make my husband as excited about it as I am :p I think once he's there he'll have to just join in.

There was one here in DC last October but it was the same time as a trip we took to San Fran so I missed it, this is a few seconds of it- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wYOZQJ030pU&mode=related&search=

44. One of the easiest things to do
Edited on Sun Apr-01-07 11:01 PM by GirlinContempt
is peeling and/or rotting skin. Ben Nye does a really great fake blood, and also a good thick blood and fresh scab product, so you don't have to worry about it running or moving, and it looks more realistic.

Anyway, you can just use liquid latex, paint it right on the skin, do a couple of coats where you want it, apply any colour, and then peel it half way down so the skin looks like it's hanging off. Do a slightly darker makeup underneath. You can also mix oatmeal, crushed crackers, crushed potato chips ( you get the idea ) with liquid latex and apply to the skin for a really gross looking effect.

If you still need to buy makeup, Ben Nye's Vampire colour foundation is a really awesome greyish cast, or the Monster Wheel (which is only $20 CAD so less US) has great foundation and a bunch of colours for doing highlighting and other sickly weird stuff. Easy to use, skin-friendly, easy to clean up. Can't say enough good things about their products. And it's really not expensive, it keeps forever so you'll have it around if you do Halloween or this type of thing again.

47. If you're putting it on your skin
This one.

1/2 cup water
1 tablespoon cocoa powder
3 or 4 tablespoon corn syrup
1/2 to 1 teaspoon red food coloring

It should darken and dry far more like real blood than most mixtures, it's darker and less fake looking. Careful with some of the red dyes though, they can REALLY stain.

If you want the brighter, more garish and sticky blood, just do like 1 c corn syrup to 2/3 c water, 6 or so tbs of corn starch, a bunch of red food colouring and tiny bit of blue. If you find it too sticky, add a bit of dish soap.

a few books, videos, pictures, a poster, pjs, do-dads and knick knack type of stuff. It's still at the beginning stages although the books I've had for years. For a time when I was younger I wanted to become a zoologist or animal behaviorist so I could go live in the jungle with the chimps like Jane Goodall. hehe. I even adopted one through her organization last year. I just find them endlessly facinating.

Otherwise, I just look for different sizes and years and colors and whatnot. I like the graphic appeal of repeated shapes or themes or objects.

I buy the household cleaner and make my own spray bottles. A little goes a long way but it is my own little personal vice..... Whatcha gonna do

I use it for sheets and for handwashing sweaters. I wish the scent would linger longer. I wouldn't use it for all of my laundry due to the cost but for occasional use it's great.

I routinely use the general cleaner for all my household cleaning. It works great on floors and I dilute it in spray bottles for counters. It's terrific

Their hand cream is wonderful and so are the liquid soaps for hand washing.

I don't use the dish detergent as the smell didn't seem to go with washing dishes but the new "flavor" pomelo may change my mind about that.

50. Lemonade.
Don't ask me why. I LOVE lemonade. I get it whenever I can. I have 3 cans of pink lemonade sitting in my fridge.

In fact, I'm drinking some right now.

I've been to 2 restaurants this week.....and both times, guess what I drank?

64. pretty bed linens
If I didn't have to do the laundry, I'd have a different set of sheets and quilts every day. Super soft, high thread-count, gorgeous sheets, with a fresh, clean matching quilt.

I'm also big into nice smelling soaps and body lotions,... and hair care products.

93. Mats and napkin/napkin rings....
I have this beautiful antique dresser in my dining room that we use as a sideboard, and it is stuffed to the MAX with placemats and napkins. I have a few tablecloths that I use for holidays, but I prefer the placemats the rest of the time. I've started getting into table runners as well. It is a full blown addiction. I love unique textiles, my preference is for hand-woven stuff with unique colors and textures, and this is a way for me to get my fix. I've been "collecting" them now for several years. I don't like the cheap, mass produced wal-marty crap, though. I like to sew too, and when I find some really cool fabric I usually make a set of placemats and napkins for my table.

95. I have place mats made out of this stuff:
http://www.macfabhome.com/index.php?option=content&task=category§ionid=2&id=17&Itemid=85

It's really weird, looks like metal, but bendy like plastic. Lots of crumbs fall through, but it's sort of neat.

Do you have anything like HomeSense or Home Outfitters?

eBay, DU, myspace.

Posting on DU and my Yahoo groups. It's like I'm playing the slots! I'm obsessive about checking back to see if anyone responded to anything I wrote. I do much better on the yahoo groups than here, BTW.

86. The lady at Crate and Barrel says it is.
I go more for the natural stuff ordinarily, but this looks like it will be much easier to keep clean than a regular brush since it can be taken apart and put in the dishwasher.

Brown eyes, brown eyes, brown eyes, and I regularly buy shoes I wear only once or never. It's a compulsion & luckily my daughter has the same size feet so she wears what I do not.

97. I have some obsessions, no real "addictions"
Obsessions:

Movies in general, preferably sci-fi and fantasy.
DU & the internets in general
Role-playing games (primarily D&D)
Wargaming (collecting warhammer fantasy figures - I don't have time to play)
Cheerleaders
Women with glasses
Smart Liberal/Progressive women (or, is that redundant to say that a liberal woman is smart?)

I used to be an avid reader, but marriage & fatherhood has put a stop to that. I used to also paint my own wargaming figures, but never have time for that, either. Also, formerly collected comic books, but that got too expensive for me in the early 90s... I used to be a huge sports fan to the point where I did some part-time sportswriting in order to get into events for free (I did get to meet a lot of current NBA players while they were still in high school...)

addictions
None really - I've never smoked, done drugs or been drunk. I can probably count the number of drinks I have per year on my two hands.

I guess I might be in danger if I found a liberal cheerleader who wears glasses, plays D&D, likes sci-fi and fantasy movies, and posts on DU.
