Poll question: Easter: Do you buy Toys or Eggs? (if you celebrate it)
Help me settle a 9 year long arguement between me and my wife. Her family always buys toys (like many families do for Christmas) and in mine, we were lucky to get some chocolate eggs.

2. Alas, both
I was hoping to get away with just a bit of candy and some colored eggs for MorningGlow Jr. (3 years old), but he's got his eye on some very large toy trucks at Target. And now I've found myself saying "Well, that's an Easter Bunny thing--let's check with him first" when he points out a major purchase...like the Easter Bunny is the equivalent of Santa or something. This is NOT a good precedent...

I blame grandma, BTW. I don't think we bought him toys last year. That's the only place he could have gotten the idea he was going to have a Spring Christmas...

maybe a tiny token stuffed animal, but no real toys. The Easter Bunny brung 'em.

edit to clarify - bunny brought the clothes and candy

4. Both. This year...
MMjr.'s getting a Flybar 1200...a pogo stick that can jump five feet in the air. Why, you ask? Because I have as much fun playing with his holiday gifts as he does.

6. Candy, not toys.

LOTS of candy!
Sometimes put in a little stuffed animal, but that's it in terms of toys.

8. Both
Usually we color eggs the night before and the Easter Bunny hides them while the kids sleep. Then he fills their baskets with candy and chocolate and jelly beans and a couple of toys or a CD or something. Nothing big -- usually just a few little things.

11. Both, on a small scale
One small Lego set and probably some Jelly Bellys (we live near the factory and outlet store) and other candy including Dove dark chocolate eggs (I hide most of the bag and take a dose of 2/night!)
My son is twelve, and because I usually get him a small Lego set for Easter, when we were at the store he asked for a small Lego car which has all its parts in one sealed cellophane bag. He wanted to put it together inside the bag, a trick he saw on a Lego website. So he got that early, and put it together in its bag. I guess he's as addicted to Legos as I am to dark chocolate. ;)
When I was a kid we got Easter baskets with some candy, no toys.

14. We do a little of each (I don't go overboard with the candy) but we dye eggs
and decorate a little and do some small baskets for the kids and grandkids. I always include age-appropriate stuff that fits our faith tradition as well, like coloring books about the Bible story of Easter, or things like that. For us any holiday is more about a) why we celebrate and b) celebrating with family/friends, not the 'swag' that the marketers tell you to buy *lol*

For toys I really like getting the little Easter-colored-and-decorated cars or other vehicles with ducks or chickens or bunnies at the wheel, that one winds up and they go across the floor; the kids and the cats really like those, hee hee!
