3. I was saying to my niece today.....
that corporations need to give spring breaks so we all can have them.

She agreed. My company does not.

Have fun!

7. I'd stay here....
and enjoy the rest.

:hi:

I've driven through Fort Lauderdale as an adult at spring break, and seen the fences they have to erect to prevent drunk kids getting killed just crossing the street. It was surreal. Rather like Baghdad.

is to keep the kid out of daycare and play, get some work done toward the masters, and otherwise sleep.

5. So you're on spring break next week?
I'm in town for a very brief (around 24 hours) visit for work. I can buy you a drink if you can get into town.

6. Those of us who never went to college will be here, quietly resenting you.
Just so you know.

8. I went to college....
and worked through spring break. I helped pay for college. It wasn't easy, either.

9. So we'll take you off the "resent" list. Not that I'd resent you, personally, for anything.
I know you're not a child of privilege.

16. What is it about the whole college thing that gets to people anyway
I worked to put myself through over half of my undergrad, then married, then kids and later returned to finish the degree. Then through grad school. It was expensive, time consuming, mucho bullshit just getting through the red tape and I was older by the time I finished grad school so I had little tolerance for know it all prof's.

What would I have done instead of college? I honestly don't know. My whole family did the college thing and I was looked down upon for not having completed degrees in the typical 4 year fashion. Yet I know scores of people who never went and make twice what I make and seem reasonably happy.

19. so, I guess I'm a little curious now.
Should I be annoyed at the "child of privilege" thing? Have I done something to you that I haven't realized?

21. No, you've not. Don't sweat the details; nor should you seek insults where there
are none intended. OK?

purely generic. Nothing more.

17. mine's already done....

On the plus side, there's only six weeks left in the semester. And I had a good time in the desert during break. And today was Caesar Chavez day. But tomorrow it's back to the salt mines until the end of the semester.

Enjoy your break!
