Have you ever seen a photo from back home in a surprising place?
Here's a cover shot of John Kerry's new book

Here's a painting that my grandmother did in 1962

16. I was at a friends house, admiring an 1800's landscape
It was just trees and rounded mountains, not even any lakes or other distinctive features - 100% wilderness. I said to him "that looks exactly like where I went to college" and he laughed and said "read the nameplate"

It said "Centre County, Pennsylvania", which is where my alma mater is.....

12. Neat!
Not my home, but I've stumbled upon a painting of the back of my in-laws home in an art gallery. They live on a marsh.

13. For me that scenic view of Goose Island is a touchstone.
Whenever I encounter that image, a good part of my childhood
is as alive as ever.

14. That's wonderful!
However you feel about John and Teresa, if they had any say in the book cover they certainly have an eye for beauty. And your grandmother's artistry rocks.

Kindred spirits. Very cool.

15. Thanks. I could talk for hours about how she taught her many
grandkids and great-grandkids how to see beauty.
