I swear Mick just got better with age...he has enough attitude for several lifetimes. :hi:

my computer timed out in the middle of this video and that always kills it on my end but I don't know if it effects everyone or just me.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y2kuaXzHmQk

Mama says yes, papa says no,
Make up you mind cause I gotta go.
Im gonna raise hell at the union hall,
Drive myself right over the wall.

Rip this joint, gonna save your soul,
Round and round and round we go.
Roll this joint, gonna get down low,
Start my starter, gonna stop the show.
Oh, yeah!

Mister president, mister immigration man,
Let me in, sweetie, to your fair land.
Im tampa bound and memphis too,
Short fat fanny is on the loose.
Dig that sound on the radio,
Then slip it right across into buffalo.
Dick and pat in ole d.c.,
Well theyre gonna hold some shit for me.

Ying yang, youre my thing,
Oh, now, baby, wont you hear me sing.
Flip flop, fit to drop,
Come on baby, wont you let it rock?

Oh, yeah! oh, yeah!
From san jose down to santa fe,
Kiss me quick, baby, wontcha make my day.
Down to new orleans with the dixie dean,
cross to dallas, texas with the butter queen.

Rip this joint, gonna rip yours too,
Some brand new steps and some weight to lose.
Gonna roll this joint, gonna get down low,
Round and round and round well go.

Wham, bham, birmingham, alabam dont give a damn.
Little rock fit to drop.
Ah, let it rock.

101. MONKEY MAN

(M. Jagger/K. Richards)

I'm a fleabit peanut monkey
All my friends are junkies
That's not really true

I'm a cold Italian pizza
I could use a lemon squeezer
What you do?

But I've been bit and I've been tossed around
By every she-rat in this town
Have you, babe?

Well, I am just a monkey man
I'm glad you are a monkey woman too

I was bitten by a boar
I was gouged and I was gored
But I pulled on through

Yes, I'm a sack of broken eggs
I always have an unmade bed
Don't you?

Well, I hope we're not too messianic
Or a trifle too satanic
We love to play the blues

Well I am just a monkey man
I'm glad you are a monkey, monkey woman
Monkey woman too, babe!

I'm a monkey! I'm a monkey!
I'm a monkey man! I'm a monkey man!
I'm a monkey! I'm a monkey! I'm a monkey! I'm a monkey!
Monkey! monkey! monkey!.......

I think it's posted up thread...I never thought of it that way but now that I am going over the lyrics in my head it kind of is and as a southerner thinking about it that way makes me uncomfortable. I wonder how many people actually think about that...it's always kind of made me squirm but I never pushed it back that far...of course when he says "sold in the market down in New Orleans"...damn.

Every band and their brother in London was covering Bo Diddley songs at the time- If forced to guess, I'd say they wanted a fresher song with that beat & rhythm-one that no one else was covering.

I'll have to watch these videos tonight- I cant watch them at work...

Which is more than I could say for whatever victim tried to sit through my music. :)

191. Just the lyrics....'cause I love this song...'cause it's funny...
Edited on Wed Mar-28-07 01:13 AM by Madspirit
Mick is hilarious singing this. I love this...sorry I just have the lyrics. I download from Limewire...if you don't mind getting it that way you can listen to it... It's how I get most of my music.

Faraway Eyes...The Rolling Stones:

I was drivin' home early Sunday morning through Bakersfield
Listenin' to gospel music on the colored radio station
And the preacher said, "You know, you always have the Lord by your side."
And I was so pleased to be informed of this
That I ran twenty red lights in his honor.
Thank you, Jesus. Thank you, Lord.
I had an arrangement to meet a girl
And I was kinda late.
And I thought, by the time I got there,
She'd be off - She'd be off with the nearest truck-driver she could find.
Much to my surprise, there she was, sittin' in the corner -
A little bleary - worse for wear and tear -
She was the girl with far-away eyes.
So if you're down on your luck, and you can't harmonize,
Find a girl with far-away eyes.
And if you're downright disgusted , and life ain't worth a dang,
Get a girl with far-away eyes.
Well...

Well the preacher kept right on sayin' that all I had to do
Was to send ten dollars to the Church of the Sacred Bleedin' Heart of Jesus
Located somewhere in Los Angeles, California,
And next week, they'd say my prayer on the radio
And all my dreams'd come true.
So I did.
And next week, I got a prayer for the girl
W- well, you know what kinda eyes she gots.
So if you're down on your luck, I know you oughtta sympathize.
Find a girl with far-away eyes.
And if you're downright disgusted , and life ain't worth a dang,
Get a girl with far-away eyes.
So if you're down on your luck, I know you oughtta sympathize.
Get a girl with far-away eyes.

167. I would say "Time Is On My Side", but...
it isn't really a Stones tune per se, but rather a cover of an old Irma Thomas B-side.

The preceding has been a shameless plug for New Orleans music: keeping North America soulful since 1718.

Mick Taylor, RIP

I'll give some context with ones I like:

Song which resonates with me because of a break-up with my college sweetheart: "Angie"

Fun song to watch on DVD or Live in person: "You Can't Always Get What You Want"

Great snark song: "Far Away Eyes" or "Some Girls"

Best movie song: "Gimme Shelter" or "Sympathy for the Devil"

Radio Song melody: "Ruby Tuesday" or "Tumbling Dice" or "Beast of Burden"

First song I remember from Ed Sullivan: "Little Red Rooster"
