Festival Express on IFC NOW
Documentary concert footage of a train full of freaks (the Grateful Dead, Janis Joplin and others) travelling across Canada in 1970. Singing and having a good time. Definitely would not happen in 2007.

2. Yay!!!
Are you to the No More Cane sing along yet?

And so sorry to hear about your lovely cat's passing. Got to the thread late and figured I see you soon enough. I'm sure living w/ you ensured a fulfilling kitty-kat life....

3. For overall quality and sheer amount of music
I liked Woodstock much, much better. I borrowed them both from the library one weekend and didn't even watch the second disc on Festival Express. Just my .02. :hi:

4. Agreed,
but:

the best Janis footage ever IMHO
some of the only Pigpen footage ever, much less full songs
more--and better--behind the scenes stuff

and the whole Danko, Janis, and Jerry thang.....

6. Well, I'll give you that.
The Janis spots were pretty good. And they all pale in comparison to The Last Waltz. That film still makes me weep for the day.

7. Yeah...
I've long claimed that as my fave rock movie.

Danko singing "Makes No Difference" is sooooo good.

Rock on, sister!!!!

8. No point in comparing the different rock documentaries
We can use all the concert footage and interviews of those artists who are no longer with us.

I liked this film.

On the other hand, I went to Woodstock, and my perception of the event was quite a bit different than the movie. Many thousand different perceptions going on there.

10. Why were the drunkest people on the train the dead ones?
Was it because that leads to an early death or did the filmmakers want to avoid lawsuits?
