21. What is the elasticity of that?
Was it Keynes who invented microeconomics, or Samuelson? My cousin's economic textbook 4th edition in 1951 makes no mention of it. Samuelson's 1961 textbook mentions it, but does not divide it's presentation into those groups. What textbook is your class using?

of modern macroeconomics, actually. :)

26. Of course, I knew that
I just figured that by creating macroeconomics that he also thereby created the distinction between macro and micro.

McConnell's 16th edition. :wow: He was one of my grad school profs, although I did not stay long enough to take his course in labor economics. I taught from his tenth edition for about a year, before I switched to the more liberal "Riddell, Shackleford, and Stamos". Plus there was some article in the Wall Street Journal or The New Yorker where this guy called all of these economics textbook writers a bunch of pinkos. Being a conservative, he took that kinda hard, or so I heard, and the next edition of his book had some of the more leftist parts pared down. I taught seven semesters of macro and only one of micro, so I knew macro a little bit better.

My cousins book is way more leftist. For example, he writes this about minimum wage: "Many economic objections have been raised to the principle of a legally established minimum wage, but for the most part, gloomy forebodyings of opponents have not come true in experience...In practice there has been no considerable and permanent displacement of workers as a result of minimum wage legislation."

Is his textbook as bad as his economic advice?

31. Actually, it's not too bad!
Not much bias either way, at least obvioiusly so...And nowhere nearly as dry as the McConnel text, which is an instant insomnia cure. :P
