I got a New computer today
but now I need to get the music from my iPod to my Computer without erasing the iPod.

Anyone know how to do this? I have a Macbook Pro.

2. They are
but the iPods work the same on both systems. They like to be attached to only one computer, when you plug it in to a new one, it has a bad habit of erasing the music already on it.

5. And that sn't a little boo-boo made on Apple's part?
Edited on Wed Mar-21-07 06:18 PM by HypnoToad
Sounds like a big boo-boo; why can't you restore from a CD or DVD archive you made?

I don't own an iPod, so my situation is slightly different...

14. Actually, your situation is very familiar
Looking for any thread to desperately rip Apple.

It's like they said about the '80s Burt Reynolds movies; if you see a lake, a car will soon splash into it. In the DU Lounge, find a thread with an Apple theme and HypnoToad will stumble in and claim incompetence and doom. I'm still waiting for all those mega viruses you assured us would show up. Let's see, those claims were in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006...

When they do, I'm sure my Apple stock will tumble, all the profit gone. Darn shame. And Steve Job will no longer be able to annually out think and out execute the PC clods.

There are many workarounds for this iPod annoyance. Simplest thing to do is go to VersionTracker.com and download a freeware called Senuti.

3. well...
is the music on your ipod in hard drive mode, or play mode? If the former, it's easy.

if the latter, you are fucked, iTunes does not support this function. really.

of course, you could simply use a third party program to do it, say, iPodRip (http://www.thelittleappfactory.com/software/index.php) you would be violating your license agreement with iTunes (which you would never do, right, that would be bad) to use a free trial program to do this? tsk tsk.

4. Yes, there's a way....
I'm on the verge of doing this myself (got a new Toshiba laptop)--I'll have to give you the specifics later tonight when I get home and can check my iPod "Missing Manual" book (worth its weight in iPods if you really want to get the most out of your gadget).

Anyway...I'll check back in a bit and give you the how-to, if somebody else doesn't beat me to it.

7. Just turn of the option that makes iTunes automatically synchronize with the iPod.
Edited on Wed Mar-21-07 06:38 PM by primate1
That will prevent it from erasing everything.
