Is the pollen making life miserable for anyone else besides me?
It's up my nose and down my throat. I have a sore throat today from my sinuses! It's all over my car and house! I know plants gotta love too, but jeez!

1. Yes. I still have the lingering cough and chest congestion from my cold/sinus infection
of WEEKS ago, and now it's being compounded by allergies. My ears have been clogging and popping all day, and my nose and eyes are sore.

My son gets seasonal allergies something terrible also. I've got him on Benadryl.

7. My husband is on Nyquil and Dayquil! I just took some advil for my head and throat.
Benadryl reacts opposite on me as far as the drowsiness goes. It makes me wired. Nyquil does the same!

19. My dog
gets benadryl. It's the only thing that keeps her sane, between the ear scratching, foot chewing, and face itching (she's got bad allergies, but the benadryl works wonders for her). Poor thing, and spring hasn't really sprung here as yet, I can't wait to see what the rest of the year brings.

20. Are her symptoms year round?
We had a dog come through here once that did that quite a bit. Turned out to be food allergies. We switched dog food, and he was fine.

We've used Benadryl in the past as well. Works wonders! Sorry about your girl, though.

24. Nope, just spring through fall
I automatically switched her to a food I've had good luck with in the past when I got her last spring(my old dog was allergic to everything, corn especially). She had been treated (surgery) for a severe ear hematoma at the shelter, was actually still on the antibiotics when I got her. I switched her immediately to a good (but affordable) diet. The head shaking and ear flapping was almost continuous (no wonder she got a hematoma), so I spoke with a vet I work with and he suggested trying benadryl, if that didn't work after a day or two, bring her in and he'd do a work up on her. It was like a wonder drug, she's had almost no symptoms (she also gets oopy goopy eyes) while on it (she was off during the winter with minimal symptoms, mostly on the warm days). Benadryl just makes me completely whacked out, wish it didn't as it is MUCH more affordable than my rx allergy meds.

I live in the house of allergy. It's a wonderful (snotty, itchy) place to be, between me, the kid, and the dog (the guinea pigs and fish haven't shown any sign of being allergic to anything, so yay).

9. Yep, and it hasn't even gotten bad yet.
I'm in the Atlanta area and today my eyes and nose are running. I hate to think of what is going to happen when all the yellow stuff starts covering everything.

13. It is covering everything here in Jackson, MS. It doesn't
help that we haven't had any rain and none is in the forecast either! My car is now yellow! And my poor little ol' patio furniture is yellow too!

15. Sneezing and snorting up a storm here!
My SO feels better that we can open up the house, (I smoke cigs) but that lets in all the air from whatever is pollinating with the nicer weather.

So, I sneeze and snort a lot, but my mate feels better.

I think I've finally gotten used to not being able to smell. It's much, much worse at this time of year, though.

Oh, and this is just the tip of the snotberg. This year is supposed to be a REAL doozy. Yay. :eyes:

21. Something that works for me
Eat locally produced honey. I take a spoonful every day. It certainly doesn't cure the allergies but I have found reduced symptoms as a result. Certainly it's not a substitute for medication but  it seems to help me. My understanding is that the pollen used by the bees to make the honey has a homeopathic effect when eaten. It only works with local honey though as it needs to include the pollens you are troubled by.

23. The hugh-jass live oaks surrounding my house are deeply into their yearly throes of ectsasy,
spitting sap and stringing spooge that gathers in drifts and wads that blow like tumbleweeds about the neighborhood.

There's just a little too much hardwood lovin' goin' on around here!
