The coroner's van just left the house next door to mine!
The rental family moved in on Christmas Eve, and I haven't met them or seen much out of them. I know that the husband is a truck driver, so he is not around. The mom lives there with a 12 year old, 4 year old, and a two year old, and was expecting another child any day. I guess they called 911, and the fire truck came and parked in front of our yard, then an ambulence drove by, but didn't stop, and then the police came. The police officer stayed for a long time til the coroner came. Another car came, and I'm guessing it was the investigator. I'm pretty freaked out, and not knowing what happened is killing me. What should i do - bake them cookies???

1. if you're prepared to help
I'd go over and ask if there's anything you can do.

3. Sounds like a sad situation. It is kind of you to want to offer help.
You might make some suggestions in line with what you think you can do, such as contact anyone for them.

I think your suggestion is good. Food is usually appreciated because people are often too upset/busy to prepare or get food and it also is symbolic.

2. Do you know their number?
If you do, call them.

4. I don't know their names or anything!
Not to play the race card, but they are a black family in a predominately white subdivision. I guess they have made it a point to keep to themselves. All I can think of is what if it was one of my kids. I'm kind of glad my children haven't had a chance to get to know them yet. I think I'll tell them that I am going to the grocery store, and ask if there is anything I can get for them.

6. I think someone who cares at this point is probably a great gift...

if it were me I'd go over and ask if there is anything I can do ...and that I was sorry to see they were having troubles.

Please let us know how it turns out. It is hard to be in a new place with no friends or family...good neighbors are a great blessing.

Bless you RamblingRose..and welcome to DU
:loveya:
