I'm up all night tonight.
That always happens after I skate a bad competition, or else just had a really shitty day and I don't have anyone to talk to or a shoulder to cry on. I know my problems aren't as bad as some people's, but they hurt just the same.

1. Well, I'm not very good at the sympathy thing, but if it helps, I'll join you in finding
something silly to make fun of, to take your mind off your troubles.

3. Yeah, but some of it is so old, it's like background noise, you don't even pay
attention to it any more.

4. Why do you skate?
Why compete?

There is something inside you that wants to do that, and it is in part satisfied that you just showed up and gave it your best shot.

In competition, we find the true opponent is our own perception of our limitations. The bimboes don't matter. They merely serve as an external representation of the all important internal growth struggle, a struggle I predict your are winning quite handsomely.

You're OK. You may not feel that way right at this moment, and I do sympathize, but you are very much OK.

5. Give yourself a break.
You tried, and that's what counts more than anything.
