Anybody?

Not that I know why I'd want to celebrate any of those holidays anyway, since my ancestors were run out of there on a rail (and some of them killed), but all these other threads are making me feel left out. So here's to everybody whose ancestors had no real country 'cause they were crushed under the imperialist jackboots of Prussia, Russia and the Austro-Hungarian empire! Yeah!?!

Anybody... Anybody...

Edited to add these because as post two demonstrates, threads are better with imagery:

2. Where should I start?
First off, this thing looks like a bad acid trip:

Bruce Springsteen could have written a song about it called "Blinded by the medieval-heraldic imagery".

5. Oh, my friend...
don't tell me you don't know about Ukrainian (well, Orthodox) Christmas and New Year's.

I'm not Orthodox, or even Christian, but heck, any chance to celebrate a holiday with gifts and food twice is ok in my book.

6. Get this...
In Judaism, we're instructed to celebrate the holiday of Purim (kind of like a Mardi-Gras celebration) on the 14th day of the Hebrew month of Adar. The exception is in "walled cities", three of which still exist in Israel, including Jerusalem. In leap years (seven years out of every 19 in the Jewish calendar) we have the month of Adar immediately followed by the month of Adar II. That means that in Israel it is possible to celebrate Purim four times in one year on some occasions, getting totally drunk on every one :toast:
