I had the most bizarre dream last night.
Edited on Tue Mar-06-07 10:33 PM by otherlander
I was in New York City at night and had been hanging out at the library. But then I left and went running through the streets trying to find a friend of mine who I had to warn about... something. I got close to Penn Station, but there was a D.J. in the middle of the street. I realised that it was prom night, and my entire class was there, dancing. They were having the prom outside, and the street had been closed off for it.

I felt kind of silly because I was in jeans, red sneakers, and a baggy light-blue jacket, and all the other girls were wearing prom gowns. But I wasn't here for the prom, I was here to warn my friend about the people who controlled the world or... something. But the normal world was a stage, and I could only warn her if we got backstage. So I went down into Penn Station, through a bunch of doors, and wound up in a vacant stairwell. Apparently, there's now a system of stairwells that connects every commercial building in America.

My friend found me there, and said she already knew what I had to tell her. So we had to escape, except some of the staircases doubled back on themselves, and we kept passing this one door with a window looking into a school where there were two teenagers making out. After seeing them, like, five times, we somehow got to a door that led out into a department store in New Jersey, but due to dream logic, we could walk back home to Pennsylvania in five minutes or so.

Instead, we went into the baby clothes department and looked at tee-shirts, saying to each other, "These really aren't appropriate for babies." Then my friend said that we should walk home and go to Freddy's Pizza Place (more dream logic) but I said, no, we had to go to the library, because they didn't sell things, so it was safer (again, dream logic). But then I woke up. >_< WTF?

1. I would give some deep philosophical answer..
unfortunately I haven't the foggiest idea...

I suppose it could mean you have to deliver seemingly urgent news to someone who already knows that information.

3. Your dream is far too complex to have a single meaning
It needs to be broken down into segments and analyzed in parts.
Unfortunately your dream is probably a collection that has been building for a period of time, and the segments are interrelated.
You seem to have a desire to communicate important information to other people, some of whom may already know it. You see your path as being blocked by the established artifacts of society (the prom, the buildings, the complexity of transportation). You also are able to identify that society is forcing standards on people that are not necessary (the inappropriate baby clothes). The baby clothes could also represent your belief that people are being brainwashed starting at a young age.
Pay attention to your short dreams, they hold the most specific information

4. My interpretation
You are seeking knowledge (library) and perspective (your friend) and most people just wanna party and show off for each other. (prom)

Your concern is not impressing others, but for the future. (teens making out, making babies, better get clothes for baby) You recognize that the "bad guy" in this narrative are those whose only motive is profit.

How'd I do?

7. Maybe.
Library for knowledge, yeah, but also safety because it doesn't sell anything so it's not being spied on (again, dream logic). My friend, well, I wouln't call it perspective, because she's more one of the show-off people, she just happened to know the same thing I did, and decided to help.

Most of the dream was running through the stairwells. Some had doors, one went in different directions depending on which way you turned the doorknob, some were off-white, some blue, some brown, one looked like an obstacle course from a 1960's video game with Pacmen running on it and everything, a few towards the end even had turnstiles. The other stuff was just at the beginning and end.

The teens we kept passing looked like they had left the prom to make out, and they didn't think anyone could see them. I wanted to warn them that they could be seen from the stairwells, but we had to keep trying to get to the department store.

Then, when we were in the store, we weren't really buying anything, just trying to look busy and not suspicious, and baby clothes seemed like an innocent thing to be looking at.

6. Sounds like a warning to me.
The number 5. The month of May when Proms happen. Teens making out...baby store, Penn Station and the library. Maybe your friend should go to the library on prom night and avoid Baby stores because of a robbery? Everthing's connected

Freddy's now, is that a real place? Nightmare on Elm Street, remember. Teens making out always get killed in those horror movies. School, proms, librarys....I'd be careful. Dreams are important.
