Thread in honor of adoption
A remark in lionessprianka's question thread brought it to mind.

My daughter gave up a baby when she was 15 - I keep in touch with my granddaughter and her parents (she's 9 now) and they're the best people in the world - so deserving of having a child to love.

My son-in-law is adopted and he and my daughter, if they decide to have kids, want to adopt because they both have such positive experiences with it.

I know several people who've chosen to adopt and a few who have made the decision to give up a child for adoption. All of them are great people who wanted nothing but the best for their kids.

So here's to adopters :toast: and adoptees :toast: and those who make the (heart-wrenching) decision to give up a child to a better life :toast:

1. What a nice post.
I did my dissertation on adoption and the adoption process. It's a wonderful, wonderful thing to do.

6. We plan on adopting.
And I was adopted. From what I know, my biological parents were 12 and 13 years old. They were both virgins the night I was conceived. I was privately adopted pretty much before I was born. My mom was in the delivery room (which is highly illegal) but she knew the doctors and she wanted to be able to say that she was there from the moment I was born.

We just bought our first place, primarily because we really want to start a family soon. Adoption is one of the many paths we are going to explore.

7. Nice
Kudos to your mom - there's nothing like a determined mom! My daughter kept her baby for 3 months but it was so hard for her. It was a heartbreaking decision to make but neither of us have ever regretted it - my daughter was able to be a kid, finish school, meet a wonderful guy and start a new life with him. My granddaughter got the most marvelous parents and has such a nice life, filled with people who love her.

I'm sure you will be wonderful parents, too.

10. I've noticed a lot of adopted kids end up adopting themselves
I think that's pretty cool. How far into "the works" have you gotten? Good luck, at any rate. :hi:

11. Not that far actually,
we got the ball rolling in mid February basically, and are playing phone tag...basically on our part, we call and get the run around, nothing definitive, and a bunch of "give us time to sort this/that" responses...so far, I'm not impressed with the DFS of Oklahoma.
