1. Delete it

I get too many of those that I don't bother reading past the first few lines. Unless it is from someone that doesn't usually forward me email.

Most of the people I know who do this just send garbage...there are some people who do forward me stuff on occasion but they do it sparingly and it's usually good stuff those I keep. But the large majority get's the one click shuffle.

I just delete them.

One of the people I get them from is an old high school friend I reconnected with a few years ago. I occasionally send her a friendly personal e-mail. Her correspondence to me is mostly limited to the forwarded stuff. Highly disappointing that in this day and age forwarded jokes and chain-e-mail are considered the ties that bind.

I do the research to debunk it and return to everyone on the sender's list, with links. When a couple of people write back to call me names, I write an even more detailed debunking, using facts, logic, and truth, and I explain why their name-calling isn't valid. I repeat this process until I get an email saying "I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree," in which case I reply that they have just admitted I was right, and I was glad they finally understand. They then send me an email saying "I am taking you off my list." Then I smile contentedly, because that's all I wanted in the first place.
