Remind me again...whose bullshit idea it was to move DST ahead 3 weeks??

What a pain in the ass. Can't leave well enough alone.

1. Definite PITA.
What a fucking idiot. Does he have a relative in the software consulting business?

2. Yeah I had to help figure out
mass distro patches and zone edits. Annoying.

3. Heh.
We're on Netware. It's been 1969 here forever, and it will continue to be 1969 after this coming Sunday.

4. No kidding
I am seriously on the "F*ck Microsoft" bandwagon this trip around not to mention what I think of the yahoos who decided this was a good idea.

5. Well, it's been a few years since the Y2K scare.
Can't let the IT community become complacent after all.:sarcasm:

Seriously, yes it is a major pain in the ass and bordering on a FUBAR.

Need to go over to our other office and take care of the server there.

7. "The" server there?
Not to minimize your pain and all but I just got a list of 2,204 servers that may be impacted by some stupid CDO that's not being patched on our servers asking us to evaluate the impact. 2,204 servers. 6 days. I'm loving our government (and our Systems Management group) right now.

10. We're a very small company
I understand its not much in comparison to others. I wear a lot of hats in the company and my knowledge ends up being an inch deep and a mile wide to cover everything technical that goes on.

11. I'm just teasing
Trust me, I know the "wear a lot of hats" routine is no easy task. Hang in - I've found it best to keep a sense of humor during these times. :)

8. You now have a very fleeting taste of our world.
We have no recipe for daylight savings. Each year it's set by decree and we need a new timezone file every time. Modern Linux distros have a "tzdata" package with the entire world's DSTs that, if you keep on auto-update, will avoid you any trouble.

9. I wonder how much Halliburton charged
to apply the fix to their computers.

I'm still hoping for DoubleDaylight Saving Time: Move the clocks ahead in March, then again in April. Move them back in September, then again in November. Halliburton would have to charge us really big bucks for that, though.
