1)Sheriff Brody--Don Cheadle or Danny Glover. Either could act the hell out of it.

2)Matt Hooper--Orlando Jones. He'd be funny, etc, the closest 2004 black equivalent to Dreyfus' hippie we could get today.

3)Captain Quint--Issac Hayes or that character actor who played the janitor in Hudsucker Proxy.

4)Mayor Weaselguy--should still be white!

5)Ms. Brody--the lead in Brown Sugar. Yummy!

6)Brody's Deputy--perfect for a skinny rapper. A doofus character actor role. Mos Def.

7)The mother of the dead boy--the mom from Boyz N the Hood. Her grief scene still kills me.

8)Bad Hat Harry--Melvin Van Peeples if he's still alive, or Denzel for a cameo!
