WOW! I just got a job offer (out of the blue)
I got an email this morning and didn't think anything of it and then I got a phone call follwing it up.

They have been around for about 35 years or so. Pay looks good almost certainly a relocation is involved but from what I have seen these are some pretty nice locales in which to work.

Thoughts, ideas, advice?

3. If the move is good for you & your family
Then go for it. Your child is pretty young, so hasn't really developed an attachment to where you live now...

Since it asks for a login, I can't tell where the company is located - is it a big move?

Congrats on the offer. Did you interview with this place other than the phone call? If not, I would not commit to anything until you & your wife check the area out over at least a long weekend. And, meet some people at the company to see if your personality fits in there.

6. I should have said...
That it's not just a numbers thing. (though, in your field, I know numbers are somewhat important!)

My wife went for an out of state interview last year... I found a lot of good info about the area on DU (and elsewhere) and everybody spoke highly of the area. However, when my wife got there, she was underwhelmed, to say the least. So, no matter what you see online and hear from others, everybody has their own ideas and opinions.

9. I don't know, up. Some of the people who work
there have gone completely nutso.

Apparently, they have incredibly long hours, a fixation with numbers, and ZERO transportation.

Old VW buses don't count, IMHO.

12. Well, the company beach IS lovely.
THe sounds of the surf cannot be beat, but it is a little too spooky for me. I could never work there.

13. You know, I've heard that as well.
Although apparently there was some major heroin trafficking going on for a while. That alone creeps me out.

21. Polar bears on an island? Your friend's on crack
However, my BIL's sister's friend worked there, and said his crippling arthritis cleared up just like that. So, the work seemed to agree with him.
