Why are people so catty? (warning - friend vent)

So I made the mistake of venting to a friend about my SO. Nothing major, just plans he had made without asking me. I was angry at the time, but am well over it. Well, two f'ing weeks later, every time I talk or email this person, she brings it up? I don't get it. I've almost forgotten about it, not sure why she can't let it go. So do I just have sucky friends or does this happen to you, too?

2. Maybe she
Feels honored that you confided in her and wants to remind you that she's concerned.
Lacks drama in her own life, so is dwelling on your past drama.
Is jealous and wants to remind you that you had a problem with your SO, so you'll be able to share being mad at him.

3. is that considered being catty?
Edited on Thu Mar-01-07 07:43 PM by pitohui
to me being catty is gossiping to outside parties and taking malicious pleasure in it

maybe it's her one chance to feel important and confided in, and she just hates that it's over

i wouldn't call that catty, just pathetic

5. Well, given what I know about her other friends (some I've never met)
I'm sure she's told everyone and their brother.

4. I had a friend like this once.
Notice I said once.

For me, this person liked to lord any negative or hurtful thing over me to feed her own need to feel superior. This may not be your friend or their motivations at all. But in my case, it grew to be too much and I just let us drift apart.

6. Cause maybe she really cares?
And wants you to remind you she does? If you haven't yet, tell her you're over it and to please drop it...then if she continues, it'd be something deeper to question.
