I need to be more disciplined about going to bed, getting up on time
that sort of thing. I'm a complete night person, but the rest of the world isn't.

Any thoughts as to how to be better about this? All advice welcome.

1. Stay awake all night for one night
Then you will be tired enough to go to bed at an earlier hour the next night and it will be easier to adjust your inner clock.

6. And make sure it is a Saturday night.

Then make sure and tape the sermon, put it up on youtube, and post the link here.

Also, it helps if you take a lot of amphetamines. Resets your system.

11. But I want entertainment!
:P

Seriously, though. I went through this last year, and just started getting up earlier one morning. That made it a lot easier to go to bed a little earlier that night. Now I can barely keep my eyes open past 11, when it used to be normal for me to stay up until 2.

3. Move to California?
Seriously. I always liked to stay up til 1, or 2, get up at 11. Then I realize, maybe I'm just living on California time.

4. I'd recommend...
a full bottle of barbituates. Usually does the trick.

Don't want to leave anything to chance, after all.

5. Get a dog.
Mine wakes me up every morning at 6 to go outside. Better than an alarm clock!

21. I do put mine out at 2.
They still get me up at 8. Grrrrrr!!!!!!!

And I just had the horrifying thought that when we go to daylight savings time in the Spring, they'll be getting me up at 7. Ouch!

I've been staying up far too late/early in the morning then can't get up when I need to. I'm a slacker.

I've been trying to do that for several years. No luck yet.

16. It takes 20 days to make a habit.
Set a time and go to bed at say, 10. And set your alarm and DON'T Hit your snooze button. Get out of bed. I now consistently wake up before the alarm and I go to bed at a decent hour. I'm such a morning person, though, I like getting up most days. And I love my job, so maybe this isn't at all helpful to you.

20. I wouldn't presume to give you advice.
My sleep schedule is probably more screwed-up than yours. I'm also an extreme night person and I prefer to be up and working until well past midnight, sometimes until close to dawn, and then sleep in the next day - but I have dogs who get me up at 8 (#&@!&#!) - an hour which an acquaintance of mine calls "the deep dark dire depths of the dead of morning." And I wholeheartedly agree with that evaluation! I've worked both day and night jobs, and I loathe and despise mornings no matter what time they happen. Since I work from home now, I have some leeway as to how to arrange my schedule, but I could also stand a little more self-discipline.

These days I've often gone to a split-night schedule, where I sleep a few hours at night, and a few during the afternoon, just to get in something approaching my "quota" and have the energy to get stuff done. But truthfully it's not very productive. Still working on the solution myself. Good luck.
