How do you post an article and its net address
with one fell swoop? I go back and edit to add the net address, meanwhile people are reading it and thinking what an idiot I am for not posting a link.

3. I don't think you can do it in one swoop. You copy the article - headline

and up to four paragraphs, paste it; then go back and copy/paste the address. Then post the thread.

Editing and adding the link quickly afterward is also OK.

5. I open a new email and copy and paste everything on that and then grab it all at once.
This is because I don't know how to open a "browser page", because I don't even really know what that is, since I'm an idiot and all...but the mail thingy works!

7. What happens if you open up your internet a second time? Will it
open up again so then you have two different places that are both open to the internet?

You can go to different places in each of those spots (the windows people are referring to).

8. Uh - you mean like work on, say, Firefox and Explorer at the same time and,
say, "copy" from Explorer and "paste" onto Firefox?
(Close?) I have just experimented, and I can see that would work (but I don't know if that's what you meant!) - anyway, thanks!

9. In Firefox you can click File>New Tab and use that one to
go to the URL you're wanting to reference...then you can copy from there, switch tabs and paste into
the other one! :D

11. Use the link tag.
Switched to plaintext format to demonstrate the link tag...

The way DU's tagging works, you can set up a link this way:

1. Go to the article you want to link to in a separate
browser window or tab. Highlight it's URL in your address
bar, and right click, select Copy.
2. When typing in a post, paste the URL. Just by itself, the
URL will be turned into a live link by DU when you submit your
post.
3. Or you can use the link tag. For example, if you have an
article with the URL "http://foobar.com/blargh.php",
you take off the "http://", put "[link:"
in front, then a pipe character at the end (a "|",
then the title of the article, then a close bracket
("]".)

http://foobar.com/blargh.php with the title "Blargh
off!" becomes [link:foobar.com/blargh.php|Blargh off!]

15. I'm glad I am not the only almost
computer illiterate person here. Thanks all. Or the only one too lazy to read the instructions.
