So Wednesday my boss, who we'll call Annie, drops this shit off on my desk and tells me it's a crisis. It's a project I worked on way the hell last year, and now it needs to go to the client. Well Wednesday I was already working on a project that was in Code Red, so I worked on both projects yesterday. But anyway she dropped off a draft that had red markings ALL OVER the front page and a big list of changes in formatting. Formatting shit is not my job, but whatever.
Today I get to work and I'm still settling in for the morning when Theo, the company Vice President, announces that me, Annie, one of the other Vice Presidents, the Project Manager, and one of the other biologists need to meet about the project at 11. We sat down and Theo basically demanded to know what the hell was going on with the project and when we were going to have it ready. Annie told him we could get it done by next Friday, and I said I though it was a bit closer to Wednesday. I announced that I'd work on it over the weekend if need be to get it out the door. I dunno what the hell she was thinking saying Friday. Seriously.
Annie kept making all these funky suggestions, like we should have a table with the plants in the document, and I kept being like "Dude, we have that."
Then Annie said that we should have a meeting after the meeting to figure out where to go next. I said I had a pretty clear idea of what needed to be done, but if she wanted to meet I'd be happy to meet with her at 5 to work out any remaining questions. She said 5 didn't work for her. I suggested 4. She replied that she had been planning to leave at 3. :wow:
Theo's a pretty complacent guy, but I have never seen anyone look so nonplussed before.
At any rate, after the meeting I sat down to make the changes, and I realized she'd only gone through the first three pages of a 40 page document. I got the changes made by 4, well after Annie had gone home for the day. I told Theo I was done, and he sincerely thanked me for taking the lead. :D
But dude.... you're having a meeting about a critical deadline, and you decide it's a good time to announce your intent to leave at 3??? :wtf:
Also, we had a critical deadline earlier in the week and she was so stressed out about it she took a mental health day on Tuesday and let everyone else frantically get it ready. Like, honestly... :wtf:
