A friend of mine died last night.
We worked together for several years, and I looked up to her more than anyone I have worked with. She was smart and tough and kind and fair. She had Hodgkins, and fought it mightily for several years.

I will miss her. A lot.

40+ years ago. I feel that loss and 'what might have been' each and every day.

35. When someone is sick for a long time...
Some people are real fighters, and they fight their illness to the very end. I think it's very hard to say goodbye to people like your friend, because you've seen her fight and go through so much, but still the illness won in the end. I've felt that kind of grief, and still do to some extent. I find that the longer it's been, the more I hate the disease and I tend to contribute more to fighting it, and the memories of my loved one are happy, not sad. I wish you comfort and peace, good memories and please, hate that disease.
