Do you have recurring dreams?
I have had dreams all my life that I have the power to move objects with my mind. And what is weird is in the last few years part of the dream is that I wake up and I still have the power to move objects with my mind, I think it's called telekinesis. I had a really powerful one the other night where I dreames I moved a bunch of stuff around my cabin (it was weird because there was tons of stuff in my cabin, which is actually almost empty all the time, and there was even a clothesline with socks hanging on it, lol). I dreamed I woke up and still had the power, and then I moved a really heavy wooden desk all the way across the room and set it down on the floor in front of me, which is the heaviest thing I've ever 'teleported'. Then, unfortunately I really woke up and I was back in my almost empty cabin in bed and when I tried to move stuff around the room with my mind, nothing budged. :(

Does anyone else have dreams that repeat over and over, good or bad?

1. I often have dreams that are reruns
Edited on Fri Feb-23-07 03:01 AM by Mr. McD
My most memorable one involved a sexual relationship with Jasmin Guy. The only celebrity I can remember ever having a dream about. That was many years ago. As a child I had repeating dreams where everyone I knew turned into spiders (Granddaddy long legs). I can't count how many times I had that dream. Actually more of a nightmare.

2. I do
For about 10 years I've had a recurrant dream that there is some sort of life and death crisis and I have to call for help on the telephone and they keypad is too confusing.

Sometimes there is more than one of a certain number - like there are three 9's and no 1's or there are odd characters on the keys and the keys are not in the correct locations - you know that 3 keys down and across with the 0 in the middle underneath. Or sometimes there are only 3 or 5 keys on the phone.

And the odd part is, I don't generally have this dream during the stressful times of life.

3. Yes. Some common themes are tornadoes, schoolbuses, and deep-fried snakes.
My dreams frequently contain recurring symbols that I have learned to associate with things going on in my life. Dreams of rabbits often mean I'm getting sick. Dreams of deep-fried garter snakes that are still alive and moving, slowly and weakly, mean I feel like the bottom of my life's falling out. Schoolbuses in my dreams often take me to a "farm," only it's not really a farm, it's where people are being killed. Tornado dreams usually mean my waking life is kind of boring and I am looking for an adrenaline rush. Dreams of driving and the brakes failing just mean I'm under stress and wish I could slow down.

I have occasional recurring d5reams that are pleasant, too, like ones where I visit a pet shop that has many different exotic animals (once there was a snowy owl there for $300), or the ones where I am swimming in the ground floor of this giant house where the bottom is all pools, and there are tigers swimming with me. Those are just things I dream because I like them.

20. ZOMG!! Yes, that's disgustingly close to what shows up in the nightmare.
Edited on Fri Feb-23-07 09:40 PM by AlienGirl
Only, in the nightmare they are *moving*. Slowly. Weakly. The way something not quite dead moves.

What in the hell, people actually *do* this? And serve it at restaurants? (The dreams happen in a restaurant, invariably, where everyone else is eating fish and I inexplicably get a bowl of snakes.)

What in the hell? How does a disgusting (to me) Cambodian dish--that is Cambodian, right? from the url it's from?--get into my dreams as a symbol of everything falling apart? Why the dish of snakes, and not something more immediately comprehensible?! Gah, my subconscious is weird.

4. Not any more, but I used to have two recurring nightmares.
One was of a giant taking my dad and pulling his fingers off, one by one, in front of me. I had this dream when I lived across the street from a guy who was exceptionally tall.

The other was of my dad, picking up my mom, and throwing her into a drainage ditch. She pulled herself out, and came back into the house, yelling at my dad, "Look what you did to me!" This was when I was in first grade, living in Arkansas, and the beginning of my memories of the fights between my dad and mom over my dad's drinking.

Thank The Maker I haven't had those dreams in years.

5. Flying
More like running and jumping really high and gliding a long ways. Sometimes I jump so high that I have time to think about how much it's going to hurt when I land.

And the standard ones: forgetting to attend a class until finals week, forgetting a locker combination, forgetting where I put things (no, that's consciousness).

The Orion Slave Girl doesn't visit very often:

6. I once had a dream that repeated almost nightly for six weeks
Edited on Fri Feb-23-07 06:01 AM by UncleSepp
It was a nightmare. The dream was not exactly the same each time - it would get a little longer with each repetition, and richer in detail. With the first couple of times, the dream was sort of third-person with a few brief first-person parts at the end. Then, it became a first person dream, after I realized that I could only remember the internal feelings and sensations of one of the people in the dream who was "me". I wrote it down several times, and drew pictures of it, hoping that if I figured it out, it would go away. It literally made me sick from not getting enough good, solid sleep.

9. Big time!
The same theme over and over. I've even stopped having the same theme over and over for like a year or more then they come back.

They are trying to tell me something, I suppose, but I haven't figured out what.

10. I have to agree
I don't know what my dreams about special powers are supposed to tell me, I just know that they happen over and over and in the dreams my mental powers are getting progressively stronger as I age. I always have a blast in these dreams and I'm so disappointed when I wake up and don't have the powers anymore.

22. Mine aren't consecutive but I do have serial dreams...
same location and sometimes just picking up where I left off. Sometimes I recognize that it's a dream and I change the outcome. I "heard" myself saying, "No, I've already done that and it didn't work. I'm not going through that again!"

I often get mad in my dream when I realize I'm just dreaming. Like I wasted all that effort for nothing!

26. I used to have a dream about the Lincoln assassination
back when I was in about 4th grade and had read some books about Lincoln. I had this recurring dream about him getting shot while standing atop a building, and I watched him fall off the building to the pavement in front of me, and I'd pick him up and put him into a tiny little box.

What does this mean??

28. There were 2 I used to have when I was little
One was floating up towards a purple light, hearing people laughing above me, evil laughs, and then falling and smashing into the ground. Then I'd wake up with a headache.

The other one was I was sitting on my bed, and the bed was hovering over an endless steel plane. Then there was a hole, and the bed would slowly sink into it, and at the bottom there were a bunch of worms that I'd land in.

Usually my pants. I wander around all day feeling extremely self-conscious and nervous because I'm pant-less but I never go home to actually put any pants on. No one else in my dream ever seems to notice but me though. I also have a dream in which I'm trying to get somewhere but I never quite make it to my destination because there are always these roadblocks that get in my way. I wake up in the morning totally pissed off because I never got to where I was trying to go.
