Yet another fruit question--anybody ever had a minneola?
It smells like an orange, is slightly pear shaped and seems to have a loose skin. What do they taste like? I'm down with oranges, but dislike grapefruit--am I in for a disapointment?

I did bring in an orange as a back-up option!

1. Minneolas are quite tasty!
A little sweet, easy to peel, and yummy and juicy.

Give'em a try! :hi:

3. They are incredibly delicious!
The minneola citrus (I have a tree in my backyard) is wonderful. It doesn't taste anything like grapefruit. It's just a rich, deep orange taste. One of my favs!
I used to not like grapefruit but after growing my own rubyred grapefruit I've changed my mind.

And if you ever see Blood oranges in your local store, try them! Don't let the name scare you. They have a slightly odd reddish color inside but taste like a combo of orange and mixed berries! yummmmm...

5. I'm down with the Minneola--sometimes called the "Honeybell"!
We'll see about grapefruit--I'm really on a citrus tear so maybe I'll aquire the taste. Hell at one time I hated beer, so who knows? :D

But the minneola was great, it peeled in about four seconds and had a slightly tart ornage-y flavor. Plus they are cheap as hell $0.99/lb compared tp $1.39 for oranges in my grocery store.

ANd yes, the name "blood orange" always creeped me out a little bit--but I'll give 'em a shot if run across them.

Thanks for the tip. :hi:

11. No...I called in to work, was told not to worry about it, and to get some rest.
I just wish I had some - wait for it now, - ORANGE juice!

13. Oh I saw THAT comin' from at least a
mile away.

I was thinking about making some citrus realted quip--but didn't want to steal your thunder.

I do have an extra orange on me--do ya want that? You can just pop over and pick it up anytime--I leave it in my office mailbox for you. :P

(note that hug is a little distant--I don't want to catch anything!)

Why don't you do it first, since you're brave... ;)

"A mouthwateringly delicious, sweet, creamy, subtropical fruit, organically grown in New Zealand, combining the exotic flavours of pineapple, papaya, passionfruit, banana, mango and lemon into one luscious delight. Mmmmmmm."

Someday I will work up the nerve!
