There the men don't buy anything for their wife/girlfriend, it's the other way around! The ladies by custom are supposed to give her man a gift(nothing specific), a good meal(either at home or eating out), and fancy chocolate.

While living there I dropped by Carrefour and visited the greeting card section. It was like the Valentine's Day scene on a Married With Children episode. Almost all the cards were sold out, and pushing/arguing/etc. to get the last few cards...the only difference is in Korea it was the ladies doing this!

Exactly 1 month later(14 March) is White Day, and that is when the gender roles switch.
