Does anyone else love their dump?
Dump as in "recycling center"... I love going to the dump. It is liberating, like starting over from scratch, like the feeling you have after you get your teeth cleaned. My dump is fascinating...we have manditory recycling so there is a big sign as you drive in saying "Clear plastic bags only...we reserve the right to inspect all bags" or something to that effect. At first that offended me...a little too "big brother" for me. I mused about filling a black trash bag with used cat litter and coffee grounds and daring them to inspect. But now I have come to really appreciate the dump. We have a booth for cans, one for clear glass, one for colored glass. We have to separate shiney newspapers from regular newspapers, we have to break down cardboard boxes and there are all kinds of plastic categories. We also have a "swap shop" but your donation must be inspected and deemed worthy to be allowed in there. My dump was also a very popular place for politicians during the last election... the hub of the community, I guess. Well, I'm off for my weekly purification...I wonder if they keep track of the number of beer cans and liquor bottles that people recycle...hmmmmmm.

1. Yes, I do!!!
It is our Saturday ritual. We love to chit chat with our fellow dumpers, and the punch card girl. Hubby throws the bag of garbage in -- I sort the recyclables and put them into their respective roll offs. All of our plastics go in one now, we don't have to separate by numbers.

2. Ok I wasn't sure what you were asking...
I once worked with a mentally retarded girl who used to hide her shit under the dresser - and she would get really mad if you tried to clean it up - which I thought was kind of a metaphor -

oh, never mind... :freak:

3. when I was a kid a trip to the dump was great!
Before the days of recycling, and consignment shops you could find really amazing stuff. the recycling center here is too sterile now. Hardly any good old stuff to be found.
