Rachel Ray having Laura Bush on her show--WTF?
What the hell? The promo for the title just ran on her show.

What is she thinking allowing that hag on --I never pegged RR as a bush apologist or a repuke.

I am emailing her show my sentiments on the above.

As a former restaurant cook, her knife technique absolutely makes me cringe. Bourdain is the only culinary personality with a TV show that I'll make time to watch.

23. The Les Halles cookbook has become my culinary gospel
Kitchen Confidential brought back a lot of memeories of my brief cooking career. It also made me glad that I got out of it. I learned a lot and I can still have great time cooking for friends and family at home - but the lifestyle is just brutal.

49. Boy, are we in complete agreement on cooking as a career.
After high school I drifted for awhile--and contiued to cook which I had done in high school. To borrow (and paraphrase) a line from Hunter S.Thompson cooking is a ot like screwing--it's only fun for the amateurs.

Getting paid for it means the enjoyment is gone. That and the fact that you probably don't get paid much. I shudder to think about those days sometimes. :scared:

17. ok
it's a stupid talk show, not a stupid cooking show. My mistake.

It still doesn't mean RR is a right-wing shill. Bush was on Letterman - does that make him a right-wing apologist?

Talk show hosts can have guests without endorsing the politics of those guests. Is Colbert a shill because he had O'Reilly on?

Laura Bush isn't even political per se - she's just married to a doof who is.

21. Her only Newsmeat contribution was to Mark Warner's "Forward Together PAC"
February of 06. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forward_Together

Forward Together is a leadership political action committee, of which former Democratic Governor of Virginia, Mark Warner, is the Honorary Chair.

Until October 2006, Warner was believed to be actively pursuing the Presidency for 2008, and this PAC supports many positions that Warner advocates, such as fundraising for New Democrats and Blue Dog Democrats. Most label Warner as a New Democrat.

During the 2006 election cycle, Forward Together donated over $650,000 to federal candidates

I just hate to see that horrid so called "first lady" given any media platform to spew more of her BS and I have a feeling that show's audience is primarily an uninformed one (I mean politically) so they'll just think Laura's a nice gal <GAG>

I am still sending a polite email to the show stating my displeasure lol

BTW I usually don't even watch this type of programming but am still recovering from a major surgery which kind of molded my viewing habits over to the darkside of TV! (until very recently I was a very captive audience)

Producers may have made the decision, or maybe Laura is involved in something Ray has some interest in. Like Lance Armstrong--he opposed Bush on Iraq, but deals with him to get funding for cancer research.

29. I would cut Rachael Ray some slack simply because...
...Pickles is the first lady, after all, and Ray no doubt wants to appeal to various audiences, including the 'cans.

That said, I flee any Rachael Ray-related items in the supermarket (And they're proliferating! RUN!).

And since it must be said, I wouldn't put it past Pickles to say EVOO reminds her of abstinence programs...

And I hardly think that Letterman is some sort of right winger.

Laura Bush is, and I know we're not thrilled by it, the First Lady of the United States. They've done talk shows...from Laura Bush to Hillary Clinton to Barbara Bush, etc, etc.

52. I really don't hate her
I am not a big fan of her cooking show and I am not into her recipes...but I think she must be a smart business woman to have arrived at the level she is at in the food and entertainment industry with no formal culinary training.

Additionally she does a pretty good job at conducting celebrity interviews IMO

Quite honestly, until very recently I was stuck in bed recovering from surgery that I had at the beginning of December and I have gotten in the habit of watching her talk show (not the food show the talk show) every day because I had nothing better to do.

Basically, I was just all pissed off this morning when I saw the promo stating that the wide end from the Clampett's whitehouse was going to be on the program!
