Poll question: So...what DOES one bring to a gunfight?
I've heard that one is a dumb SOB to bring a knife to a gunfight. So then, what is the smart item to bring to a gunfight?

1. Val Kilmer!
Although if I had Val, we probably wouldn't make it to the fight. Rawr.

I take that back. My fantasy generator is on overtime now. You've um...you know...gotten a "special place" here, now.

What? Oh, c'mon...look at those last pics. Jeebus...

5. Pfft...I've got this big ass rednose here
that'd be like Mister Owl on a Tootsie Pop. Lick, lick, lick.

And that little girl I stole most recently? Jesus...only thing she's killing is a bowl of food or a squeaky toy.

9. Wait...so what are you saying?
I mean, I know that I've taken in/rescued/stolen a bunch of them...but what do I know?

If you're saying that the negativity surrounding pibbles is bullshit or hype, then...well, okay. I'm buying in.

10. Yeah, I'm saying it's total hype and bullshit.
The one thing LostinVA and I disagree on is dogs. If we ever get one, I want a pibbles or a German Shepherd, since that's what I've always been around. She wants a corgi. I think they look weird.

16. May I chime in?
Pitbulls are perfectly capable of being loving, docile dogs. You're a walking testament to that.

But when one is mistreated/abused and becomes dangerous as a result (I know your rescues were treated awfully and have turned out okay, but that's not always the case), it's probably going to be more dangerous than most dogs its size because of instincts/jaw strength. Isn't their jaw strength higher than the norm for 60-80 lb. dogs?

20. Very good question, and one that I think is asked far too little.
I also appreciate your respect for what we do here.

Is their jaw strength higher? yes. That goes with the breed. Will they be more dangerous? No. Not from what I've experienced. "More dangerous" isn't a finite measurable thing. Each dog is and does as he/she will. Now, if you're asking if an abused pitbull will be more dangerous than an abused Cocker, then I'd say absolutely not. Cockers bite. Cockers have low tolerance for kids, and they have ear problems. However, Cockers don't do the damage a pitbull would.

So, what's dangerous? A formerly abused pitbull (or GSD, Rottie, Dobie...?) or a Cocker that's going to bite damn near regardless?

If dangerous = jaw strength, then yes. But that's like saying dangerous = curb weight (H2, Ford F350, etc).
