This comes up in a "slide show" view, but you can stop it and look at the individual pictures if you wish. There is a hidden control bar at the bottom so you can stop and start or change the speed.

We had a wonderful time, and special thanks to the folks who suggested day trips to the Valley of Fire and Mt. Charleston. Those were special days, along with a trip to the Fashion Show Mall to search for the "stripper" Toasty Rose! It's a long story, but if you want to know it, just PM me!

I want to thank my husband, who took most of these pictures and edited them promptly after we returned on Monday 2/5/07.

Remember the days when we had to give film over to the camera store and get all those developed pictures and then put them in albums? Those days are gone forever!
Grandpa and I have officially GONE DIGITAL!

I'll answer questions if you have any. Enjoy! Hope you get to Las Vegas soon -- in the flesh!

In peace,

Radio Lady in Oregon

2. Barbary Coast!! My favorite place to play Pai-Gow poker!
There is a waitress there (can't remember her name) but she never lets our glasses get empty. I haven't played there in awhile -- I wonder if they still have 5$ minimum bet Pai-Gow?

6. I know virtually nothing about Las Vegas in the gambling or drinking arenas. I'm no prude!
Edited on Thu Feb-08-07 03:02 AM by Radio_Lady
I did come home a WINNER! I didn't gamble so I didn't lose. Also, I found a quarter in the swimming pool, so I "cashed out"! Hooray!

I had just one beer in seven days (watching the Super Bowl and munching on popcorn). It was our 34th Wedding Anniversary.

We didn't venture in to the Barbary Coast. Probably was too smoky for me there anyway.

Thanks for your comments. Learn something new every day:

PS. Pai Gow? Is that with shrimp or pork? Noodles or rice? (Just kiddin' -- really sounds like a Chinese meal to me...)

Thanks for your post.

9. Sometimes we call it "Kung-Pao" poker...
it is a fun and easy game, though. Not only that, but since the dealer (and the player) have to win both hands, there are a lot of "pushes". So, if you like to play cards and drink beer like I do, this game is perfect!

15. I USED to play cards (just Gin Rummy, Bridge, Whist... and GO FISH!)
Edited on Thu Feb-08-07 09:37 PM by Radio_Lady
I remember teaching my son, David, how to play GO FISH when he was about six years old. We were sitting by our swimming pool on a beautiful summer day.

That was more than thirty years ago! David turns 38 next December 10th. Time flies when you're having fun.

What's new in the movie world, Driver8? Do you watch the Academy Awards -- just out of curiosity? We saw "Pan's Labyrinth" in Vegas. Didn't like the combination of fantasy, reality, and horror. The effects were pretty neat. I couldn't relate to the subtitled movie in Spanish, or the purported historical aspects of the film.

17. Kung Pao poker! That game must be REALLY hot stuff!
I only started to drink light beer when I was 40 years old. I did a telephone survey for one of the light beer companies, and after speaking to about 100 respondents and getting their opinions, I decided to try it myself.

Now I've been know to drink a glass or sometimes two -- of Coors Lite, Miller Lite, and also Corona, Dos Equiis (is that spelled correctly?), and some of the microbrews here in Portland.

Have a great Friday, my DU friend!

21. Ha Ha!!
I have always been a beer drinker -- I rarely drink the "hard stuff" as I don't like the taste of alcohol. However, since having children I rarely drink at all!

Portland has a lot of great microbrews, doesn't it?

I didn't realize that you lived in Portland -- my wife's cousin lives there and does something with one of the free weekly papers. Not sure which one, though.

Thanks for the Friday well wishes! :toast:

22. Portland Tribune? Comes out for free Tuesdays and Fridays.
One of the film reviewers, Dawn Taylor, is a press friend. I do movie reviews for Oregon Public Broadcasting's "Golden Hours" an audio service.

Have a great Friday and a fabulous weekend. I gotta get my beauty sleep -- Fridays are my recording days.

good night now..................................

20. Hello!
Hello Radio Lady...yes, I do watch the Academy Awards. A lot of people out here have big parties for the Academy Awards, and there is always a "pool" for betting on who the winners will be!

"Pan's Labyrinth" doesn't look like anything I would care to see. I'm not a big fan of "Fantasy type" films, although I did love the Lord of the Rings trilogy. I saw part of the new "Ocean's 13" last week and that looks pretty good. We will be gearing up for the new "Harry Potter" movie soon. I'm surprised that we haven't started work on it already since it comes out in March.

Avoid the movie "300" if you can. It is nothing but a "gore fest" -- lots of killings and beheadings and blood!

Good to hear from you!!

25. Hi Driver8. Movies I'm missing this month are as follows:
Hannibal Rising.
Ghost Rider.
Black Snake Moan.

I'll think of others -- January and February are -- yuck.

We're running the Portland International Film Festival. Lots of films, but I don't get invited to the screenings (and I haven't directly asked for press credentials.) That's OK with me.

7. Hi Ironflange. Do go if you can. It's a pretty fascinating place.
Next time, we're going to go horseback riding. (We went at Red Rocks on our last visit.)
Thank goodness, my back injury in August 2006 is FINALLY feeling better after seven months!

10. Ewww, I've had back problems too
About a year ago I was pretty well a basket case. I was spending a lot of time in the bathtub; that was about the only way to help it. It's a lot better now, still have some bad days like today, but a bad day now is much better than a good day last spring. They can't figure out what the heck is causing it, I've had bone scans, two MRIs, lots of other stuff. It's weird. They even tried Lymd disease. At least it's not myeloma, they made sure of that. Enough already.

We want to trailer it down to Sin City sometime, from here it's two long days or three easy ones. We want to do Death Valley and the west end of the Grand Canyon, along with the usual stuff. Liberace Museum?

14. No, my husband didn't want to go to the Liberace Museum. We spent the days
driving to the two destinations suggested by DUers in my original post. Other than that, we enjoyed two comedy shows (Second City and George Wallace, both at the Flamingo) and went to some neat thrift shops for "treasures in trash" in LV!

Thank you for posting.

5. Don't blush... I did slip off my suit in the hot tub after the Super Bowl!
Sorry, there aren't any photos. The air temperature was about 50 F. and the water was 106 F.

Nobody else was around -- 9 PM to 10 PM -- behind the Flamingo hotel building. I could hear a lot of shouting, so I assumed some people were still celebrating the Indianapolis Colts' win.

Enjoyed all the jets in the brand new whirlpool tub -- all working with such a force they rolled me around COUNTER-CLOCKWISE like a little cyclone.

That was fun and fantasy!

Warm regards,

Radio Lady in Oregon (Married, but not dead... and such a randy woman for all of her 67 years...)

Um... what CAN I say?

How was that Arby's horseradish sauce, or didn't you have it?

Here in Portland, there are lots of nice pictures in Willamette Week, one of our alternative newspapers and distributed via paper box on city corners. Based on your experience, I'm not going to take a paper until I inspect it carefully.

We always tried to tack on at least an extra day to see something besides the convention floor and the insides of our eyelids.

I was in San Antonio in 1995 (?) for a week with the Hospital Management Information Systems convention. Husband joined me on the wrap day and we stayed on for an extra week. That was fun!

32. Nice.
I really like the night cityscapes with all the lights. And the black swan and flamingos are cool too. And the construction. And the sculptures. And the pools shots. And the Valley of Fire shots. :wow:

Was that a squirrel? It looks like it came right up to you. How cute.

Looks like you had quite the trip. Cities, mountains, deserts, fountains and animals.

33. Those are the chipmunks who begged for scraps at the Valley of Fire picnic tables.
Edited on Thu Feb-15-07 06:32 AM by Radio_Lady
I know we're not supposed to feed them, but we did!

They seem very tame -- they come up to your table and sit on their haunches, kind of begging. Hard to resist.

I understand there are many varieties of chipmunk in this area. Look carefully at this picture:

Yes, we did a lot of things in the few days we were there.

Thanks for looking!

In peace,

Radio Lady in Oregon

PS. We leave on our next jaunt on March 11 to Maui and Oahu. My husband is a true travel junkie.
