8. If you're talking about

landline, then sometimes you can (easily) check things out at the TNI (the old term for the box where the telephone-company wires interface with "your" wires).

If it's a single residence, then the TNI will sometimes have a phonejack where you can plug in a corded phone (everyone who uses landline should have a corded phone, which works by means of phoneline-voltage, for when the electricity goes out). If the phone works, then it's a problem on your side. (You may be paying for maintenance of these wires.)

If it doesn't, then it's a problem on the phone-company's side.

11. Our home phone was out from Jan5-18, someone cut the fiberoptic cable...

An idiotic repair guy cut it and it took that long to repair.

The phone co. said there were something like 95 lines affected.

Thank God we had cell phones.
