Poll question: "Offer: Bag of frozen ravioli, approximately one serving removed."
Assuming the food met your dietary needs/preferences...would you accept food from a stranger on FreeCycle?

(This partially eaten bag of ravioli did show up on the list today.)

1. Some of those things on freecycle crack me up
What cracks me up more are the people who actually would take said bag of ravioli.

3. Also on today's list: "Wanted: Bedding for my 13-year-old stepdaughter, who is moving in with us.

Twin or full-sized. Must be pink or purple."

I love the "must," as though people who are looking for free things really should be demanding when it doesn't matter.

Edit: I *might* take ravioli from, say, a neighbor who offered it and explained WHY he or she wanted to get rid of it ("I've gone vegan" - fine; "it tastes off to me but maybe you'll have better luck" - no)...but never from FreeCycle.

4. Hell no.
I wouldn't trust that it had stayed frozen throughout previous ownership.

5. Yes.
But I was homeless for 5 months at one point (by choice) and ate out of dumpsters, so free-cycled food isn't even a stretch.

7. Mike Yankoski also went homeless by choice once, to see what it was like
http://www.30hourfamine.org/resource/30DaysDevotional.pdf

are you familiar with him? I suppose me asking that is making the assumption that there is like a brotherhood of people who have gone homeless willingly; but one never knows. Seems like every day I hear of another obscure thing that actually has a national organization attached to it.

10. No, but interested.
I think there probably should be an organization for people who voluntarily go homeless.

My reasons were not so high-minded though. It was more of a squatter/scavenger thing than a homeless thing. And I had a roof, just not a legal one.

6. My motto: Never buy anything new but food.
But I'm pretty firm on the "but food" clause.

9. Um, there have to be *some* exceptions other than food, though, no?
I primarily wear secondhand clothing for a number of reasons, but used socks and underwear are just *not* options.

8. No way. I've seen a lot of Freecyclers - I wouldn't trust them with hygiene at all.
