Okay, I spilled wax on the kitchen floor. How do I clean it off?
Without getting into TMI, I heated up an at-home-use wax. Evidently, the bottom of the container was not stable and caused the wax to spill all over our (vinyl) kitchen floor.

Got any ideas on how to get the stuff off? Scraping may work, but I'm worried about taking the finish off the floor.

Yes, I feel dumb.

1. You could gently scrape off the large amounts....what works for the rest (I've found)
Is to lay paper towels over the wax (2 to 3 layers should work) then use a hot iron on top of the towels. As the wax melts, it should soak into the paper towels. You need to change out the paper towels often as you do it, so have plenty on hand.

Hope this helps!

4. And put a piece of brown paper bag on top of those towels.
They're stronger and also absorbent, and you're less likely to wind up with wax on your iron.

2. Same technique as above but with newspapers
You can also go the other direction and put baggies full of ice on it and then just lift up.

3. If you can, gently pry any thick wax up with a table knife
then use the methods in #1 and #2, combined, but try a warm iron first- Paper towels on floor to insure ink doesn't transfer to floor, newspaper on top to absorb more melted wax.

5. Thank you so much, everyone!
I'll be trying the iron/paper towel/brown paper bag combo.

I can't believe I made this much of a MESS.
