A naked man arrested for beating a car with a dead pigeon last summer was sentenced to a year in prison Monday for animal cruelty.

Juan Pablo Lopez of Kellam Road in Virginia Beach pleaded guilty last year to burglary, obstruction of justice and animal cruelty.

He received no active time for the burglary and obstruction charges.

After destroying bird cages and freeing some chickens and pigeons from a Whaleyville residence in July, Lopez, then 30, beat a dead bird against the homeowners’ car and ran away.

I'm confused. Where is the animal cruelty? He freed chickens and pigeons, he's a hero! The only reason he was naked was that birds are notoriously afraid of clothing. Ever try to catch a bird while clothed? So to free them he had to calm them with his nudity.
