Why oh WHY is Eddie Murphy in another move with a fat suit?
Is it just me or this genre of Eddie Murphy (or Martin Lawrence) in a fat suit getting really old.

I'll admit I enjoyed the first "Nutty Professor" but it all went down hill from there (granted, I haven't seen any after that).

1. For money.
But you knew that.

We love to laugh at fat people, apparently--enough to make Klumps IV (or whatever this one is called) an attractive investment.

2. I often ask people who have been victimized by racism....
...why they're so quick to jump on board and discriminate against others. People with weight problems and that are gay seem to be equal opportunity and acceptable people to demean in the eyes of both black and whites and society as a whole.
I'm guilty of liking the first "Nutty Professor" but I thought it was a funny movie overall.

3. Hollywood; get your act together.
I think it's a misrepresentation of black talent to produce black movies that only appeal to seventh-graders, and it's an insult to the culture. What happened to creativity and what is keeping production companies from showing intelligent, creative black film?

4. What happened to Beverly Hills Cop Eddie Murphy?
That is when he was at his best.

5. He's also in yellowface for a good bit of it
Knowing nothing about the movie, I still don't see how that could be anything less than hideously racist. Murphy, after the kudos he got for "Dreamgirls", apparently has the bad-movie equivalent of Stockholm Syndrome. I'll come up with a clever name for it later. Like...um... "Stockfootage Syndrome".

Oscar-Winning Eddie Murphy

Sure, he was great in Dreamgirls but the man has put out more crap than a barn full of farm animals. But he's won the Golden Globe & SAG awards so he's looking to be the winner for the Oscars

9. Cross gender fat suits, at that.
I guess there's a loyal fanbase who pays to see every fat suit movie out there, so he makes money. I don't like it, not because I find it offensive but because I find it banal and lazy. Like bathroom humor in kid shows. But hey, my application to become the Omnipotent Deciderer of All Human Affairs was declined, so if it amuses someone, I let them be amused. The characters are too ridiculous, I would think, to really offend people with weight issues.

11. Not going to the preview of this film today. I prefer to remember Eddie in "Dreamgirls."

After all, he's up for an Oscar on Feb. 25th, and "Norbit" can do nothing but hurt his chances.

On the other hand, most of the Academy members will be too busy with screenings and voting to get to see this movie. (At least, that's what I hope.)

13. He doesn't need the money!
Although I am sure that is why he is doing it. He made lots for doing the Shrek movies.

15. "Money Schmoney" you should catch him on "Inside the Actor's studio"
I saw it last night. Really interesting.

His mean cop pulling a gun face---a copy of Bruce Lee. He said he didn't know how to do a mean face when filming "48 Hours" so he just copied Bruce Lee

The Dr.Doolittle movies-the only animal he touched or was around was the duck everything else was added in later.

The "Money Schmoney" part has to do with both Geffen and Katzenberger telling him to do "Dream Girls" and not to worry about the money (Eddie points out that they are both billionares)

Really good interview. At the end he alludes to something that must have been cut out and that was the yes he is objective and he knows when a movie he is in sucks.

As far as "Norbert" goes he said that he and his brother wrote it and it wasn't going to be a "make up movie" but things kept changing and he just decided to do it all over again.

16. like many comedians, amateur and pro alike, he
doesn't like himself, and feels more comfortable being hidden. so said someone from dream girls that was on fresh air. i guess the bigger the costume, the better to hide.
