Tucson soldier, 20, dies in Iraq

A 20-year-old soldier from Tucson has been killed in the war in Iraq, the Department of Defense has announced.
Spc. Alan E. McPeek was one of two soldiers who died Friday of injuries they sustained when they came in contact
with enemy forces using small arms fire in Ramadi.
McPeek was assigned to the 16th Engineer Battalion, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, Giessen,
Germany.
The other soldier killed in the incident was Pvt. Matthew T. Zeimer, 18, of Glendive, Mont. He was assigned to
the 3rd Battalion, 69th Armor Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Ga.
McPeek is the fifth person with local ties to die in the war in Iraq since the start of the new year. The wars in Iraq
and Afghanistan have claimed 27 people with local ties.
