How much are you paying for heating oil
I just filled the tank and it was $2.60 a gallon.

1. We use natural gas here, and I don't pay for it. So no idea.
Critters, always willing to comment on things she knows nothing about.
It's what makes me interesting.

2. I paid $2.29 in early December
and $2.00 two weeks ago. I'm watching the gauge drop as the furnace drinks oil during this cold snap. I was using about 3 gallons a day, now I'm sure it's at least 7 or 8. :wow:

3. no idea how much per day.
All I know is this is the second fill this winter and will probably need 1 1/2 more. On top of that our family room has a separate heat pump so we get hit with the electric bill too.

4. I turned my furnace off at the end of April last year.
How big is your storage tank? Mine's in the basement and holds 275 gallons.

I live in a rural area and the nights are very cold. I'm thinking about getting a couple of these units for my room and the living room to get buy when the days are warmer.

I looked at those and may get one. The reviews at Amazon are very mixed.

6. Several DUers have them
and like them, especially for small spaces.

7. Have you seen any alternative heating options?
Space heaters are dangerous and use too much electricity. I rent and cannot install a pellet stove or a woodburner. A woodburner wouldn't make any sense because I'm gone at work all day.

I just know I can't afford to run this furnace.
