OH MY GOD my Friday night buddy may be moving to Chicago.
He's been applying for jobs for months to get away from this wretched place and it looks like he may have found a position. Every single good friend I've ever made here has moved away eventually, while I remain year after year after year. I think there is a conspiracy among the gods to force me to stay with my husband. Jeepers H. Creepers, I really think so. The only other person I can stand to talk to around here has a new boyfriend and therefore I haven't seen her in four months. I have the most awful luck! But my friend... I would be happy for him. He's dying in Maine.

Well...hey!

Once your house is sold, and it will be, you know........

Go after him!

Chicago is one very cool town, ya know!

4. I won't move my kids because they like it here.
And he and I don't have that kind of relationship. I merely depend on him for 90% of my emotional support. You guys do the rest.

10. Yes, I must insist.
Usually I wish I'd stayed in anyway. Going out is really just a statement that I am not owned by anybody. But Fate, or God, or Karma or whatever you want to call it, seems to have plans for me that involve nothing ever changing. On the one hand, if I stayed I'd have financial security... be set until I die. But I won't be in love with my housemate. I wonder, does it even matter? Quick, give me the answer. :P

Just ruminating. Hi, SA. :hi:

12. Maine does that. All my friends are long gone.
Closest one is 15 hours away. No jobs here so people leave. My best friend (other than my Best best friend: my wife) I've seen once in the last three years.

Maine does that.

20. It really is true.
Nothing I can do about it, though. I'm sorry you've had the experience but glad you have a good friend in your wife. That's important.

21. Thanks, pawpicker.
I email this guy about ten times every day and he's seen me absolutely insane with grief... he's driven me away from my house when things were unbearable and I needed to shriek and cry, to spare my family; and he tells me every day that I am lovable, beautiful and desirable. He's the best of friends and so I should be happy if he moves to Chicago. It doesn't feel that way at the moment, however! I suck, sorta.

23. Eh, We All Suck Sorta At Times
You're happy for him in that he's got an opportunity

you're sad for your loss of his presence and companionship

you also don't see a lot of options there for friends

but, nah, you don't suck, well not about this anyhow  I don't know about any other times.
