1. Every Freaking Day
I belong in my basement, surrounded by books!

Not in a cubicle writing code for defense contractors...

9. I design crappy products for crappy people to buy at crappy Walmart.
I'm a graphic designer, supposedly creative, but I work in the ugliest, darkest, grayest, dirtiest office imagineable. There are no windows anywhere near me so, in the winter, if I work through lunch, I don't see the sun at all until the weekend. But the worst part about this job (aside from the lousy pay and benefits, and the constant threat of being fired), is the stupid-ass junior high politics and gossip that is constantly going on. As soon as we can sell our condo and secure a new mortgage I am so outta here. I just hope I can find something better. PLEASE, OH, PLEASE.

Thanks for the  I needed that.

mortgage. Banks don't like people who don't have jobs, and they only like freelancers marginally better. At least if I freelance for several years and show that I can maintain a steady income, the next time we sell our house it won't be as tricky.

So what about you, why do you want to run away from work? Do you need some    too?

24. That makes sense....
I hope all the new mortgage stuff goes smoothly for you!

I want to run away because this is the 5th project I've put through start-up in the last 7 months, and dammit I keep having to fix the same mistakes that other people keep making, project after project after project, out of my control. I'll get through it, and it will get better in a few weeks, but today it's making me want to tear my hair out! :banghead:

Thanks for the hugs!

20. I'm a CPS caseworker
I'm retiring early (I'll only be 50).

My pension alone would keep be below the poverty level, but two pensions, plus earnings on savings, and we'll have a better standard of living than we do now.

For years my co-workers laughed at me when I brought sandwiches for lunch, and kept driving that old car.

Enjoy your new SUV while I'm at home, tending my garden, and going sailing! :bounce:

The trick is to put your money into whatever payroll deductable, pre-tax savings stuff you can, in as high an amount as the law allows, and live on what's left. Make it a goal, and make it happen!

23. Sounds like a good way to retire!!
We've got a small amount rolling into 401K every paycheck... we should up the percentage. I think that will happen as soon as we have the credit cards paid off... we're paying more in interest there than we would be earning, banking into the 401k.

Enjoy your garden and your sailing; sounds fantastic to me!! :bounce:

44. Frequently
Today wasn't too bad though. No one yelled at me. The other people in my department didn't act irresponsible or totally mess up. I didn't have any pressing deadlines. There were no miracles I was expected to preform. People were cooperative and helpful in general. I didn't get physically hurt at all.
When the opposite is true all in one day, I really want to leave. Unfortunately, this happens often.

I work in a public library, and we had a double whammy in the children's room: Two different kids, one with explosive diarrhea and the other with vomiting. If I had been the one expected to clean it up (I missed it because I was working at the front desk), I would have walked out that door and never looked back.
