Thanks to Ohiosmith's advice - I'm tossing my cats out of my home
Edited on Tue Jan-30-07 02:39 PM by LynneSin
They didn't ask to live there, they were unwillingly brought into my home. I forced these cats to live in my home, which pretty much makes them my hostages. Thank you Ohiosmith for opening up my eyes to this inhumane practice. I'm sure my cats will be better off on the streets where they can make their own decisions in life

3. But the advice to leave the door open is flawed.
EVERYONE knows that cats will just stand in the open doorway.

You made it sound like it would actually make a decision while the door is open.

Edit ... forgot YOU.

Or ... it may be that it's a decision to confuse the human. :D

13. Ya think?

Mine are all sitting here staring at me ... as if I don't know it's supper time. (It's NOT -- they're an hour early and they know it!)

4. One of mine actually did ask to live here
He was a neighborhood stray who kept sneaking in when the door was open. Sometimes he'd run right between my legs. So, I figured the polite thing to do was let him move in.

Then he disappeared for 3 1/2 months...and came home again! So, it seems to me he really does want to live here. Who am I to say he can't?

7. Awww!
I can barely afford my three cats, but I would take in another one if I found myself in the same situation.

11. I got one like that too.
They're awfully hard to resist when they just show up. Must be the visible-only-to-cats "SUCKERS LIVE HERE" sign above the door.

30. Apparently. I think I have another one.
The most beautiful black cat is living under my back porch. I've tried resisting, but have finally started putting food out for him. It was the bitter cold that kicked me over the edge. In fact, I've been putting out kitten food, even those he's full-grown, in hopes the extra fat and protein will help him cope with the cold better. It breaks my heart to see him, or any really domestic animal living outside like that. Why won't people spay or neuter?!! He's starting to let me get close, and if I can ever get to where I can pick him up, I'm going to take him to the vet to get fixed. But I really have a house-full--one dog, three cats in a parsonage--so, I can't take him in.

But they do seem to know which porch to camp out under!

18. But I "tried" to do that once with my cat....
Opened the door for him. He sat there, looked out the door, looked up at me with a "Are you f*ckin nuts?" look in his eyes and went to the bedroom.

21. I had to do the same thing...
Actually, my cat did ask to live with me, but I figured that as a free and sentient being he should pay some rent. The deadbeat couldn't hold a job, so I tossed his ass out...

22. Oh LynneSin! Surely you and the
cats can come to an amicable solution to sharing the same living quarters.

It was nice meeting you at the Hawk and Dove last Friday!!

Go Bears!

23. How dare you care for those cats! What were you thinking?
Domesticated cats are surely prepared to live in the wild and hunt. They never, never enjoy people.

If it weren't for people like you, the cats would clearly be living perfectly content lives in the wet, cold snow. Every time I pass a homeless person, I think of people like you and get pissed. You deprive the poor kitties of the freedom . . . to starve.

:sarcasm:

He's really wanting freedom, despite his "f*ck off" look when I open the door?

I ordered a feral trap over the internet to trap my Riff Raff, when he was an injured, starving kitten still wild enough to evade my grasp :o
