It bothers me
when I give someone a piece of home baked chocolate cake and the person rolls her eyes because I mentioned the sweet cream in there instead of saying "Thank you". Yes it is a chocolate cake, you helped me baking the cake, you read the recipe. What is your problem?? That you won't fit size XS anymore and have to move up to size S??? It makes me upset. And she is a good friend of mine.

8. It wasn't her mood
Edited on Mon Jan-29-07 05:42 AM by MissHoneychurch
or maybe her general mood she has these days. She told me the other day that she is pissed because her jeans size XS are starting to get tight. So what? You are weighting not enough anyway and look like a skeleton. Some more pounds would suit you. Food is an issue with her.

Good morning GoP. I am sorry I am pissed.

15. She is close to it
She doesn't cook for herself, barely eats anything. She thinks it is unhealthy to eat a warm meal in the evening. She eats a toast with cheese. I cook for myself almost every evening. I do believe my relation to eating is better than hers.

Es geht mir gut. I just spent two hours reading Wikipedia.org - I started reading about Queen Esther , Jezebel , Mordecai and I ended up back on Gnosticism again - I have been personally studying it for a year and a half now. Its a very interesting subject that for some reason I have been naturally drawn into and once I get into , time around flies by :) Have a good day :)

5. Damn...now I am dieing for German baked treats....
cakes, cookies, (especially lebkuchen), strudels...damn I need them all. You guys have those incredible bakeries everywhere... someday, (but not in my lifetime) America will be so civilized. If you should ever feel the need to do good deeds for the needy, please send some of your chocolate cake my way...I promise to be appreciative and thats no lie!

7. It was really good
the friend I visited Saturday was really happy about it. She loved it. I am sure you would as well. I enjoy baking, I am just not baking that often as I am by myself and baking a cake for myself is just not my thing. But if I have an excuse I enjoy it. You would be a great excuse.

9. Now please understand:
My absolute ulterior motive is a greedy desire for gluttony of German bakery products! What can I trade? Smell is a ferocious thing in that I can still smell those bakeries even though there is a gulf of over thirty years separating my nose from your beloved country! Again: WHAT CAN I TRADE?
(hint I live in Seattle...we do have some pretty good smoked Salmon here for instance)

14. Sorry
fish is supposed to be good for you but I confess I hardly eat any either. I was just trying to think up a good trade...my first thought was Starbucks....eventually the world will blame Seattle for that one and maybe even hold us accountable so that choice was quickly "x"ed off my list. Salmon seems to be a popular trade item between us and all points east which is why I mentioned it.

I fear your countries fine bakers have so addled my thinking that I had hopes we could find trade relations here...I am sad that this may not happen... but should you think of anything that we have out here in the Pacific Northwest I'll gladly find a way to exchange it for Lebkuchen...(they should ship well I think)

I have an unrelated question for you...one I could likely look up on my own but never got around to because I spend so much time here. (Besides it is much funner to say that all I need to know I learned in the DU Lounge)
What is the difference between the town of Nurnberg and the town Nuremberg as in the famous Nuremberg trials? Are they the same place with different spelling like Munich and Muenchen or are they two different places?

and finally thanks for mentioning my name in a list a few weeks ago, I forget the details but you were the first to do so...made me feel downright special, thank you

16. Do you have shrimp or something like that in Seattle??
I am happy to trade that.

And if you pm me your snail mail adress I would be happy to send you some chocolate or Lebkuchen (even though the time is over for Lebkuchen till end of the year).

To your question: it is the same town, just different spelling. In German it is Nürnberg. English Nuremberg.

29. I am in three way chat at this moment and
...in much need of sleep. Shrimp huh? Let me work on it....I might suggest a specific kind of tea instead, one that is made here in Seattle but hardly known outside of here...they DO export and I must add that their blends are....well you know from your own experience that I do not exaggerate about you Germans and your bakings...I think one of these tea blends is just as phenomenal.

I am sorry that I was in the middle of a three way conversation with you and two others at the same time...The other two were seeking my thoughts on something quite important to them so it has been difficult for me to divide my time here. I am quite aware that it is never a good plan to keep a young lady waiting regardless of which country she lives in and especially one who may send me something I am SOOO fond of... I am off to bed way later than normal...I would very much like to continue this scheme of ours a bit later after I have had some much needed sleep. It has been decades since I last spoke any German but every-now and then I dream that I am talking to someone in German and my language skills are back where they once were: Almost good enough to hold a normal conversation.
Tonight as I sleep I am willing to bet that my dreams will include a piece of chocolate cake with powdered sugar lightly dusted across its top.
Guten Nacht Frauline Honeychurch

20. LOL
I asked her at lunch break if she liked it. Yes she did. And she called me to thank me because she forgot her breakfast and it was her substitute. Still, the look she gave me or the cake this morning wasn't nice.

OK, let me water you your mouth: I baked the cake Friday, with eggs (a lot), shredded haselnuts, melted chocolate, flour, sugar. Then I let it cool off. Saturday I scooped out the middle part of the cake and made crumbs out of it. Mixed it with the sweet cream (beaten) and more shredded chocolate and put it back in the cake. I tell you, a dream!!! I will make that cake again for sure

How are you today? How was your weekend?

22. OMG! That sounds
utterly decadent. And I just love hazelnuts.

My weekend was pretty calm. I got motivated and started to purge my closet and drawers. Am tossing out a bunch of stuff and bringing anything good to the thrift shops. My closet and drawers still look full though, so I may have to do another round of purging.

We had a wonderful dusting of snow yesterday. Looked just beautiful, so I took a nice long walk.

So I guess I can say it was a productive weekend.

Yes, it surely was a productive weekend. I am proud of you :)

The hazelnuts in the cake ... you could taste them but they weren't overbearing. Just right.

27. Yes, it was
very productive. I'm going to attempt to continue my purging this weekend. I'm trying to do it with a mindset of possibly moving. Sometimes that helps to toss things one would otherwise keep "just in case"

I ordered hazelnuts from a place winter of 2005. They said they ran out and I would get some from this year's crop. Hmmmmmm . . . think I'll send them a reminder e-mail.

Well, I best fill up my travel mug and head out to work.

Wishing you a great day, and please, pace yourself when eating that cake.
