Went to see LOTR/ROTK for the second time, last night with my daughter
and it was cool, I noticed a few small details I had not the first time around; it was kind of our last gasp of the holiday season before she had to go back to school today.
I had not noticed the chuckle from Sauron's voice when Smeagol killed Deagol over the ring and a couple other little things.
Can't wait for November: extended edition of ROTK AND the re-defeat of Chimpy!

1. I didn't notice that either.
Sort of implies Sauron knew the ring was found, doesn't it? I doesn't approve.

2. It might be earlier than November this year...
In the past, they've scheduled the releases of the extended editions for a month before the next installment opened in theaters, to keep up the excitement. Without a new film coming out in December, they have no need to do that. Plus, the staff will be able to concentrate all their time on the DVDs, since they won't have to be doing post-production on the next film at the same time.

5. Interesting
Since they didn't call the extended version of either Fellowship or Two Towers the "true version" I don't know why they'd call the extended version of ROTK the "true version".

It was worth it to me to see on a big screen with Dolby sound, as it will be some time before I'm able to get my Big Ass Wide Screen HDTV.

4. Finally saw it with my daughter
yesterday.

Almost had to kill a man. Some jerk about 6 rows back who felt that we would all benefit from his "humour" as he added comments to the previews. He hushed just as I had grabbed my hat and cane and prepared to head out for an usher.

Then, at the very end, when Aragorn and Arwen finally meet, as it gets quiet and the music swells, Mr Humor decides to shout "Kiss her!".

Lots of hisses in the crowd, and a satisfying fleshy SMACK as the person next to him hit him.

For the life of me, despite all my history in the flame wars of Usenet, I couldn't think of anything suitable to say to him afterwards. He was just too pathetic to waste my time on.
