Poll question: A sports poll
I'm watching Cold Pizza right now and one of the talking heads was jumping up and down about how college basketball sucks compared to the NBA, and how the SuperBowl is the top dog in terms of a championship game.

I took umbrage at the SB stab, because I think the World Series is by far the best championship game. So, I present to you a poll.....:D What championship game, do you think is the best? Personally I think the World Series is top dog, what are your opinions?

5. I do to...already starting to get excited about our team
every year, same thing since after October 1990 (honeymoon, world series...sigh)

Get excited, they get close, they get no cigar, cause they got no pitchers cept one young one who is doing great, and they are "done" on first base and won't dump the albatross.

Name that team! :)

and I'm not very familiar with the AL. The Twins?
I'm a Dbacks fan. It's tough to keep up with all the trades and happenings on one team. I can't believe the Big Unit is back. I wonder if he has anything left?

You know, we still listen to Reds games on the radio...the ambiance of radio versus TV is our preferred way.

We usually get down to Cincy for a couple games during season though.

Hubby and I are pretty nutty about baseball...and have pretty strong opinions too!

Pitchers and catcher reporting dates start February 15...all the dates are here...

Yay!

On Edit - and of course he wants to be where his father was...Marty is one of the best announcers out there.

3. I got to go with the NCAA basketball championship
The tournament is awesome. Starting with 64, always have a cinderella lurking around deep in the rounds; some incredible plays and the occasional controversial bad call. Its a month of foreplay then the big game.

35. March madness is tops no doubt but
the OP asked which Championship game and I had to go with the World Series, esp. if it goes to a Game 7....there's not excitement like that, imo.

Sometimes the NCAA b-ball title game falls flat compared to the entire march madness.

that plague the NFL during the season/playoffs usually drag it down for me, although with the SB they do try and be humorous with them, and they hit some good ones during the game. But the SB is...7845787 hours of pre game stuff, where they do back stories of the whole team, plus how the towel boy got his job, and how the waterboy got into his career, and etc, etc...but the main killer for the SB with me, is the half time show...when they got Nysnc, Britany, and Aerosmith for the half time show a few years back....I

To take a line from Lewis Black "The trifecta from hell"....

27. To be fair, he could always hit
He was just such a ham in Texas he couldn't stay healthy. IIRC, he missed a large part of a season when he talked the manager into letting him pitch late in a game that was way out of reach. Jose injured his arm pitching, and was out a long time.

But he could hit them a long way. That wasn't his problem.

23. It depends on who's playing
Those NBA Finals between the Celtics and the Lakers were great, far superior to a Dallas vs. Buffalo Super Bowl; but the Patriots / Panthers Super Bowl was a lot more entertaining than something like the Lakers vs. Nets in the NBA Finals.

Nothing. It's not even close. Those guys kill each other out there and play through injuries that would put most people in the hospital for a month. The Cup is the hardest trophy in sports to win.

Don't like or watch hockey any more, but the Stanley Cup playoffs are intense. It already has the advantage of being a fast, hard hitting sport, and that's exaggerated tenfold in the Cup finals.

Doing the pools, having the parties, pigging out, watching the commercials, and just generally having a good time.

I bet college basketball every day for months but it's ridiculously overrated. The 3-point shot ruined the sport in terms of style. The NBA is still moving without the ball and crashing the boards, since the 3-point shot is much longer and not abused. In college basketball you've got far too many teams with 3 players standing behind that arbritary line, doing nothing else. It a farce as a sport.

The World Series basically doesn't exist and that's the way it should be, buried during football season. Very often it's not even the lead story on Sportscenter, in the middle of the event.

The best event in sports is a major fight, anticipated for months if not years. Defining careers and eras.

49. I like the NBA
Of all the sports, the NBA system does the best job of truly crowning the best team in the league. The playoffs last 2 + months and usually the best teams during the regular season wind up winning the title.

I love the Super Bowl, but it doesn't necessarily crown the best team. I still believe San Diego is the best team and they won't win the title.

Same with the NCAA Men's Basketball tournament. There's so many talented teams, and any one of them can beat another. I wouldn't be surprised to see a team like Texas, led by talented Freshman Kevin Durant, beat the more talented Florida Gators. Any one game series can lead to surprising results.

50. March Madness, Baybeeee!!!

Field of 64.
Single elimination.
Every game matters.
Cinderella teams.

(If only NCAA football had a tournament instead of a two team playoff preceded by thirty-one exhibition games.)

But it's not an either-or question, as they do their best to stay out of each other's way: When football is done, college basketball takes over. Then it's on to the NHL playoffs and Lord Stanley's Cup. I'm not a big fan of the NBA, so don't pay that much attention. I'll watch the three big horse races, take in a spring football scrimmage or two, but summer is pretty devoid of watching sports for me. I'll take in the occasional minor league baseball game but that's about it.
