Today, I joined a gym...
I'm so freaking excited!! It's a women's only gym, and the personal trainers are available for free!! I'm finally motivated. I know that this is going to work this time because I'm paying for it! I've really decided I'm tired of being the fat girl.
Please send good vibes and encouragement.

1. Good Vibes And Good Workouts!
congrats

Just got home from my workout

never gets any easier to start a workout regimen!

Just grab your stuff and go and don't think about going or if you're like me you'll talk yourself out of it.

I'm lucky enough that the gym I work out at is connected to the hospital I work at and I was walking to my car today with my gym bag and had decided NOT to workout today and was walking by the door and turned at the last minute and went and worked out.

Had a good workout too.

If I don't take my gym bag to work, I won't go.

So good luck, and it'll work!

6. Thanks.
Part of my thing is that if I'm moving, weight drops. I found this out when I lost 26 pounds in two months the last time I started exercising. I'm all over and I can't wait.

5. I'm thinking it'll be great.
The place I joined told me "Barbie doesn't work here." Apparently all the trainers used to be large women. I'm looking forward to the weights. They have some kick ass equipment.

17. Thanks for the heads up.
The personal trainer is going to help me customize it. I think it will include Kick boxing on Wednesdays. I'm pumped!

11. The adrenalin rush can be very addictive.
We recently bought our first condo and we're fortunate to have a gym in he basement. THree months later, I've got my 45 minute routine down and have noticed that after I come back from the gym I have such an intoxicating high.

Good luck and have fun.

16. I'm looking forward to that...
That and increased flexibility, and my ultimate goal is to be as small as my hip bones say I should be.

12. Good vibes
And best wishes, cutie!

I used to hate weight training. Then I became addicted to it for a while. It actually is a lot of fun ... but be scrupulous about warmups and stretches. You know you're hooked when you start spending a lot of time trying various protein shakes and suppliments and you decide that crap actually tastes OK ... :)

But I do plan on getting the most out of my membership. Also, I'm excited about meeting new people.

14. Yay!
I might have stayed at my old gym if the personal trainers were free. Because of my disability I really can't safely work out alone. So a trainer is a must. But the rates they charge for a trainer in Manhattan health clubs is crazy!

I hope you have a lot of fun in the gym and I hope you stick with it!

19. Good for you! I started doing it close to 5 years ago,
and I wasn't terribly young when I started (37). It became addictive, and I still look forward to going 3x each week these days! Just came back from another workout a couple of hours ago.

20. I'm 27.
My husband told me it'd be easier to get rid of the excess weight before I was 30. Also, I'd like my feet to last until I'm 99.

23. That makes sense, as I've read that muscle mass loss tends to
begin when you're in your third decade of life. Increased muscle mass tends to increase metabolism, which helps prevent fat weight gain! Make sure to include a decent percentage of resistance training/weightlifting as part of your program.

I am going to get a personal trainer next week to help in my problem areas, I have lost 40 pounds need to lose at least 10 more but I lost it so fast i need to tone. I am not sure I will do any of the classes yet but they look interesting.
My gym is a womans only also. I have seen EVERY body type imaginable so I feel pretty comfortable.
My D says the one machine I am working out on will let me bounce a quarter off my "glutes"!!!! :woohoo: :woohoo:

27. Update:
Well, I was at the gym until after 6. It was fun. I did 30 minutes on the treadmill then did some toning tables, and worked pretty much every muscle in my body. I felt a little heady after I got off the treadmill, but I fought it and after lying on the toning table for a while, I was good. I'm EXHAUSTED, but I just KNOW this is going to be great for me. Thanks everyone for all your well wishes!!
