God, I hate Fundies!
No story here, just a rant on how much I hate these people

They want to wreck the Earth so they can hasten the coming of Jayyyyyyzussss
They want to kill a group of Americans simply because they love differently than they do
They want to start wars all over the world, again to hasten the coming of their sick twisted God
They want to ruin everyone's life by imposing their own home-grown Sharia on us all
They want to ruin all entertainment by blackballing entertainers that think differently than they do
They want to push Women back into the home, take off their shoes and keep them - not unlike the binding of feet
They want to suppress any kind of free thinking, no matter how validated by experts it is, because it runs contrary to their fairy tale

1. Doesn't that kind of make you a Fundie?
Different god, of course.

2. Nahhh
I have nothing against Christians - those who live the definition of "trying to be like Christ"

But Fundies have nothing to do with Christ or Christianity, other than they have latched onto the homophobic, misogynistic portions of the bible.

4. I just meant the extreme reaction to people who disagree with you.
Not that I don't have a similar reaction to Fundies at times... :) I'm just morally opposed to that word "hate" in most circumstances.

6. People have become too afraid of hate
That is, except the fundies

I do hate these people - They abused me emotionally as a child stole a good 10 years of my life from me - 10 years I won't get back.

Do I wish them death? No. I want worse - I want them to be deemed irrelevant and ignored. That is sheer torture for them.

13. People have become too weak not to hate.
People should try to overcome weaknesses, not revel in them. I can't complain, though. I do it, too. I'm just not proud of myself when I do.

7. I don't even care that they disagree with me
But when they try to make their "disagreement" manifest in the form of theocracy then I suppose my reaction does get a little exteme and I'm quite comfortable hating what they are doing and hating them for doing it.

5. My theory
They can't handle thinking. It's much easier to let the bible tell you how to think and what to think. Any variance from that is unacceptable because it greys your absolute black and white world and might make you have to think for yourself. Further, following the orders of god absolves you from personal responsibility for your actions. It's no coincidence that god is the father; it's a very childlike relationship where you allow god to be the adult and save yourself from any critical thinking. Absolute belief in an infallable god who is in charge of everything isn't that much different from the relationship of a parent and toddler.

Not that all religious people are that way but I think for the hardcore it's pretty accurate.

8. Definitely
We paint our image of God in our father's images. If our father was an asshole - we make God as an asshole too.

Man created God in his image

10. Well you didn't leave religion because God was an asshole
You left based on reason - perhaps your inner God even helped you reason it out in your mind?

22. Sigmund Freud came out with that one a long time ago.
He was right. We make an image of God to meet our psychological need for a Sky Daddy.

19. It ain't so bad.
You learn how to tolerate them. It takes years to establish to them that their machinations won't have any effect on you. Once they learn that little fact, then they lay off, and you can actually get along with them.

17. And I think they are terrified of reality.
They have to live a rarefied existence in magical jesus la la land because they cannot come to grips with reality. The fact that there are others who do not buy into their views makes it hard for them to maintain their suspended disbelief. So for them, it's necessary that everyone be a fundie so that their fragile world doesn't come crashing down like a house of cards.

18. They cannot accept that they are going to die
Seriously - I worried about death when I believed in an afterlife.

Once I no longer believed in an afterlife, death was no longer scary to me.

15. Ever notice that god is a blatant conservative
Yet his son is unashamedly liberal. I guess the same inter-generational differences have existed since the beginning of time.

I think fundies are screwed up because they can't acknowlege that they have multiple gods, and those gods are incompatible with each other.

And nobody even knows that the hell the holy spirit believes!

And it doesn't say on the box that Fundies want to do any of the things you've described.
